[history]
Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Richard A. Gephardt yesterday criticized the Bush administration's "chest-beating unilateralism" in the Iraq war, which he said weakened diplomatic alliances and squandered global good will following the September 11 attacks.
"Foreign policy isn't a John Wayne movie, where we catch the bad guys, hoist a few cold ones and then everything fades to black," the Missouri congressman said in remarks prepared for a speech to the Bar Association of San Francisco.

NIce reporting.
No mention of Gephardt's claim that he's "more like Christ than Bush",
as reviewed on The Michael Medved Show today.
(Gephardt was claiming to be expert on The New Testatment. Funny, I guess he's
never connected the first chapter of Romans to his daughter's "lifestyle".)

"chest-beating unilateralism" in the Iraq war I see he has the Graham curse in not being able to count.

I just heard him say that on TV and thought I'd hear enthusiastic Bush-bashing applause, but I didn't hear anything. Perhaps the sound wasn't balanced--but he didn't pause as if he had to wait for applause to die down. Perhaps denigrating cowboys when one is on the West Coast doesn't quite have the same effect as it does in the Northeast.
