The United States military command in Iraq has announced that the two Saddam Hussein's sons, Uday and Qusay, have been killed. Their bodies were found in the wreckage of a house in the city of Mosul after a gun battle involving two-hundred American soldiers supported by helicopters.

Several hours later, the sound of gunfire echoed across Baghdad in apparent jubilation at the news.
The two sons are second and third on Washington's most-wanted list of prominent Iraqi figures; fifteen-million dollars in reward money had been offered for information leading to their capture.
Is this the end of Saddam's dynasty? Tell us what you think about the death of Saddam's sons.

The following comments reflect the balance of views we have received:
This was an important step to help bring some semblance of stability to the area however there is still much work to be done and hopefully with the cooperation of the Iraq people the US stay in Iraq will be short. John Crane, Houston, Texas USA
No. Saddam's Dynasty is like a cancer. Removing part of it doesn't work; it all has to be destroyed. Isaac, California, US
The death of Saddam's sons will not stop the guerrilla actions against coalition forces. Too many of the Iraqi people see us as an occupying force and will defend their land until we are gone. The release under the freedom of in formation act of documents relating to Dick Cheney investigating Iraq's oil reserves two years ago will only fuel the debate on the reasons for going to war. America's imperialistic attitude to foreign affairs will always instil hatred. Erik Cox, USA
Sorry, but good riddance. Draw a line under it and find Saddam. The US troops have done a brilliant job and deserve a pat on the back. Andrew K, UK
The celebrations across Iraq are an indication of what impact this has on the Iraqi people. The shadow of Saddam will not be completely lifted until Saddam himself is gone, but the removal of his sons has clearly brightened their day. Al, MN, USA
This is certainly a serious blow to the old regime
Zac, USA If the identifications are valid, then this is certainly a serious blow to the old regime. That having been said, Saddam and the ongoing enigma of his status are the most important to the question of Saddam's 'dynasty.' Zac, USA
A nice "feather-on-the-cap" for the Coalition Forces in Iraq. However, the troops there should be on a high state-of-alert, from the backlash that MAY come from Saddam's loyal forces. Trevor Lyons, Canada
The world is a better place now that these two murderers are dead. Next on our list- their Daddy!!! Gerri Naughton, U.S.
If it is not a set up for flagging backing by the public we now have openly taken credit for what has usually been done in secret, killing our enemies. Assassination has now become a normal part of international settling of disputes. Where will this now lead future generations, if there are any, when such disputes arise? W.PAGENKOPF, USA
Yes. Who else is left there? Saddam is all alone now. He can't do anything. Meena, India
Truly a great day for humanity. The world is a much better place with these two dead. Peter Maher, USA
Patience is a virtue. Saddam himself will be next then the WMD. History WILL prove who was evil, who opposed it and who supported it, directly or indirectly. John Karran, Merseyside, UK
The only downside is that their father was not caught with them! Lets hope this is an end to the 'line'. Alison, UK
If the reports are true, this will help the people of Iraq accept that the old regime has gone for good. Louise, United Kingdom
This is indeed the beginning of the end of a long and brutal dictatorship. There is more excellent work to be done ahead. May other dictators of the world take note of this action, and let free people everywhere rejoice. Daniel Callahan, USA
How will we the general public ever know it really is them. Much the same as how will we ever if there were any WMD in Iraq. Nobody seems to tell the truth anymore, every announcement is to be treated with a degree of scepticism that some politicians are still trying to save face. Paul, UK
The DU chimes in. Mr. Pagenkopf is certainly a dumb kopf for making this truly stupid statement. Apparently he would not have approved of 200 American soldiers rushing in to kill Hitler?
The last comments is pretty much the views and how BBC News operates. They saved this comment for last, which BBC believes is the best.
"Saddam shame! Downright Qusay how a 7.62 can mess up Uday!"
a 10 would have been ASSured!

How do we know that there is even a place called Iraq?
How do we know that Paul from the UK isnt a total drooling idiot with bad teeth?
Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?
Who put the bomb in the bomb shoe bomb shoe bomb?
