I popped on to DU for a second(I need to be decontaminated now!) and found this message: "Sure the freepers will be giving each other the high 5 but the soliders in the field still have the chance to get picked off 1-2 a day. This isn't going to stop anything, the risks are still the same."

What scum. Of course anyone knows when you station people in hostile areas, there is a chance of getting hurt. But for the love of GOD, give our military some credit! Just how many died in the Vietnam war? How many died in the war before that? And, so on. No one likes it that our military are over there losing their lives, but they are doing it to save the lives of the Iraqi people (as well as the Afghans, Kuwattis (when we went to help them) and the African people (if they go to Africa)). But, for crying out loud our current numbers are nothing compare to those prior wars. And, you can't compare the the Gulf War with this one. We went there to push back an invader. Sorry, had to rant on when I read your post!

The American people are supposed to be frightened of this? It was a while ago, but 50,000 were picked off at the shoe factory at Gettysburg in 2-1/2 days. Maybe the liberal youth over at DU think people don't get hurt or die anymore, and maybe in their age group--13-18--the rate of injury and death is low so they think the whole world is like that.

Can you imagine their depression when they see Iraqis celebrating like mad if this gets confirmed?

hmm, if i remember correctly, Allied forces suffered on average 20-25 deaths per day for a YEAR after WWII was over.
