The American people are supposed to be frightened of this? It was a while ago, but 50,000 were picked off at the shoe factory at Gettysburg in 2-1/2 days. Maybe the liberal youth over at DU think people don't get hurt or die anymore, and maybe in their age group--13-18--the rate of injury and death is low so they think the whole world is like that.
They know all about violence and oppression. Thanks to our enlightened multi-cultural education system, they have spent years, after all, learning about the Horrors of McCarthyism: the thousands hung from lamp-posts, the millions carted off to the Alaskan gulag ("gulag" is an Inuit word, don't you know), the martyrdom of the saintly Rosenbergs, the violent military coup that overthrew President Stevenson when the escaped war-criminal Eisenhower threatened to nuke Berkeley. Oh, the horror!
