Report: Saddam Hussein's Sons Captured Or Killed
POSTED: 11:24 a.m. EDT July 22, 2003
UPDATED: 11:43 a.m. EDT July 22, 2003
U.S. officials say they're investigating whether two of Saddam Hussein's sons are among the dead in a raid on a suspected hideout of high-ranking former Iraqi officials in the northern town of Mosul.
The raid sparked a shootout between members of the 101st Airborne Division and gunmen holed up inside.
Four Iraqis were killed in the raid on the house -- which later burned down.
The identities of the dead are not certain, but officials say they're trying to determine whether Saddam's elder sons, Odai and Qusai, are among the dead.
High-ranking Iraqi officials have been killed in the raid at the center of anti-American resistance in Iraq, according to broadcast reports.
According to NBC reports, Uday and Qusay Hussein "very likely" were captured or killed.
A number of Iraqi suspects were killed, MSNBC reported, including Uday and Qusay Hussein.
MSNBC said White House officials has neither confirmed nor denied the reports.
According to MSNBC, Al Jazeera news agency reported that four bodies were taken from outside a "Hussein" home that had been fired on in Mozul, Iraq. Three of the four bodies reportedly may have been Uday and Qusay Hussein and a grandson of Saddam Hussein, the news agency reported.

Col. Bill Cowan said " Saddam's sons might provide good intelligent on their father's whereabouts." But I disagree! In the event that they give in and do tell where Saddam is, I suspect that it would be EXTREMELY GOOD information.

I am happy to see something carried about Iraq regardless of the outcome. I am so darn tired of Kobe Bryant that I could scream. I don't have access to TV. Are they sticking with the Iraq story? I'm surprised they haven't "switched gears" yet.

Now we know how the DU types will get their panties in a bunch over it- we are kiddie murderers.

They theorize it may be Qusai's (or Uday's) 14 year old son, with whom he travelled.
Probably already a rapist, at a minimum.

Gephardt: "If these 'John Wayne' type reports are true it represents another huge setback in our efforts to achieve an effective coalition."I'm sure the recipients of this raid had a brief moment to reflect on Bush's (RAT defined) cowboy comment of "BRING 'EM ON".
John Kerry will condemn this because it didn't include his favorite French forces. Bob Graham will say that he's known all along where Soddom and his sons were and that because of his impeachment calls this raid was forced upon Bush.
Dean and Kuchinic (sp?) will call Bush a warmonger, Sharpton will say it had racist overtones and Hillary will straddle the fence with old crusty.

"Individuals of very high interest to the coalition forces were hiding out in the building," Lieutenant-Colonel William Bishop of the 101st Airborne Division told Reuters in Mosul.
"This morning we went to the building and surrounded it."
Division spokesperson Major Trey Cate told reporters four "high-value targets" were found dead when the building was stormed after a pitched four-hour battle.
A fifth Iraqi also died in the fighting and at least five were hurt.
They declined to identify the dead or comment on local rumors Saddam's sons might have been present.
But one official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity said, "There is a pretty decent chance" that Saddam's sons Uday and Qusay were there during the shoot-out.
Their death or capture could provide a big boost to U.S.-led forces operating in Iraq. Only Saddam Hussein is ranked higher on the U.S. list of "most-wanted" officials from the former Iraqi regime.
The U.S. has offered a $25 million bounty for the Hussein, and $15 million for each of his sons.
"If in fact one or both sons were taken alive, that could be a tremendous source of information not only on the possible whereabouts of their father, but also possibly on the whereabouts of where these chemical and biological weapons may be stashed," CTV's Alan Fryer said from Washington.

will totally dominate the news (particularly if it's a capture) and blow the Dems out of the water. How about a new reality show with viewers voting on the different methods used each week to elicit WMD information from these two SOBs.
