Yes, this is the week middle America gets hefty rebates from the Bush administration.
I have been wondering if this is the reason the Dems have been hacking away at the "16 word SOTU clause".
Bush is about to become even more popular.

This will be just another week from hell for the Democrats. Pelosi looks like she might have some first hand information from hell.

The non-issue of the British intelligence about uranium.
The Dems know the timetable. They knew when the tax rebates were coming. Thus, a pre-emptive strike could have been their strategy in kicking up dust about such a laughable "scandal".

The House Democratic leader pledged Monday to disrupt business, AS USUAL.
There! Placed the comma correctly. Typical of left wing radical extremists, they do not know punctuation. A mark of low class education.

If you want to really watch the democRATS squirm just propose that the $1,000 is doubled to $2,000. Also be sure to include every American in the give-away. Watch them back down and watch the GOP gain a bunch of additional support. Naturally, it could never be adopted, but it sure would be fun to try.

I propose that the Republicans counterattack by voting to cut school lunches.

I thought this was a tax rebate. The dems now want to give it to low income people who pay no taxes in the first place. This makes it nothing more than another welfare program.

I'm not overly concerned for the Repub's that thia is going to be the week from hell. I'll bet Bill Thomas calls the Capitol Police and has the bums thrown out.
Peolsi's mug shot would be something to behold.

But we can't expand the credit, Ms. Pelosi! The Democrats are all worried about the expanding deficit!

The leftist bitchin does illustrate that while lower income and many middle income families pay no income taxes, the payroll taxes are painful to all. All the griping they do to get "Tax relief" for people who pay none of one type of tax, but do pay huge state taxes and big payroll taxes from a percentage of pay basis. The liberal insistance on this can be a good thing. The unintended consequences may paint a clearer picture to the lower income crowd.

The problem is, the earned income tax credit already pays for more than 100% of the paid soc security taxes - far more ... Clinton long ago turned this into a true (but disguised) welfare program back in the early 1990s ... EITC is the LARGEST WELFARE PROGRAM in the Federal treasury, bigger than food stamps, HUD, energy credits, etc. It is over $50 billion I believe now (forget the total numbers). It also suffers from a high fraud rate, as it is easy to get govt money while working the underground economy on low wages and/or claiming for more dependents etc.
Dont get fooled, the Democrats are playing to their constituency and playing them like a fiddle. heck if I made $10k a year I wouldnt argue over free money any more than over 'free cheese' from the US Govt.
BUT A "TAX CUT" IT AINT. IT'S WELFARE EXAPNSION.

After having the cops called - I'd say the dems had the week from hell last week - and I don't think they're smart enough to try to pull anything off. I've never seen the repubs so united toward each other before. It's truly amazing to watch. It's amazing what happens when there's a leader in the WH.

From what I read, the Dems didn't really suffer too much from that incident. Both sides probably scored with their own base.

Well .. the dems are hysterical - from what I can tell. When you have a seasoned congress person going on national TV and saying "the republicans are mean to us" - I can tell you - they're in deeeeeeep trouble. They are imploding as we speak. The dems are really suffering from petty, childish, blatant hatred of Bush - directed by the DNC.
I'm sure this little incident has solidified their resolve to get even - because they're behaving like children - and they have never had to deal with the repubs when THEY WERE OUT OF POWER. They're used to running things - and we were so willing to oblige them - they just believed it would always be that way - HEY - DEMS - IT'S OVER !!!!!
I don't think the issue is whether or not either of them scored with their bases. The issue is they want things their way or else - and THEY'RE NOT GOING TO GET IT.

Well I hope that they keep imploding and that Republicans take advantage of their unelectability to implement the GOP agenda instead of just replacing Democrats.
