The leftist bitchin does illustrate that while lower income and many middle income families pay no income taxes, the payroll taxes are painful to all. All the griping they do to get "Tax relief" for people who pay none of one type of tax, but do pay huge state taxes and big payroll taxes from a percentage of pay basis. The liberal insistance on this can be a good thing. The unintended consequences may paint a clearer picture to the lower income crowd.

The problem is, the earned income tax credit already pays for more than 100% of the paid soc security taxes - far more ... Clinton long ago turned this into a true (but disguised) welfare program back in the early 1990s ... EITC is the LARGEST WELFARE PROGRAM in the Federal treasury, bigger than food stamps, HUD, energy credits, etc. It is over $50 billion I believe now (forget the total numbers). It also suffers from a high fraud rate, as it is easy to get govt money while working the underground economy on low wages and/or claiming for more dependents etc.
Dont get fooled, the Democrats are playing to their constituency and playing them like a fiddle. heck if I made $10k a year I wouldnt argue over free money any more than over 'free cheese' from the US Govt.
BUT A "TAX CUT" IT AINT. IT'S WELFARE EXAPNSION.

the payroll taxes are painful to all Isn't the payroll tax the Social Security tax? Wasn't it the Democrats who raised that on the low income and the retired?
Rather that a credit for something they don't pay, why not lower the tax they do pay?
