From what I have heard, I think a lot of this damage is done by people who do the mammography exams. I am told (I'm a dude who just admires boobs ... I have only my wife's natural ones to play with) that the technicians ask if the woman has implants; and if the answer is yes .... woe to the poor woman. The plates are tightened such that the camera can 'shoot' though the flesh and implant. Judging from various MD's I have talked to, the general consensus is that if the implants are going to burst, the exam is a good candidate for root cause. Most people are just not that rough on the implants. And the implants are designed to take impacts (ie. falling, bumping into furnature and rough 'play').

DOW Corning has paid gazillions of dollars to women who had Si implants, and then sued for real or imagined medical problems. After bankrupting several companies, the new studies showed that the number of women who had acquired immuniodeficiences after the implants, was practically identical to the number of women in the control group. Silicone does not chemically react with much of anything at temperatures that a LIVING human would experience. Now, during cremation .... well, that's a different story..

Right, but it is difficult to convince the hysterics with objective data. Maybe impossible.

One danger of silicone implants is that it makes mammograms more difficult for the radiologist to read and find early breast cancer, but that is not an adverse effect of the silicone.
