It isn't exactly sympathetic. Sure, I guess we should feel sorry for the guy being executed by politics - but it isn't too late save him. This hideous caricature shows a dead man... President George W Bush remains vital and in power and popular.

Based on the reactions I have seen here and in a few duplicate threads, there are many, many dolts here. It took me a while to figure out Ramirez' message (it helps that I know he is a very strong conservative -- probably the only one at the LAT).

It is a little frightening just how stupid and knee-jerking some of our fellow FReepers are.

Yes, please do.
Please share your superior intellect with us inferior maroons.
And this had BETTER be good.

Perhaps there are better ways of showing support than putting a gun to his head? Ways that won't win you a visit from the Secret Service.

I'd go out on a limb and say that far more than 75% of the people who take a glance at this cartoon will misinterpret the deep meaning. The surface meaning is very clear, however, and will appeal to the fan base of the LA Times.

"This cartoon is sympathetic to Bush."

Due to the dumbed down population, that tidbit will go over the head of the average reader of the paper. Visually it is radioactive.

I agree. BUT, if a cartoon has to be explained, it's not that effective as a statement, is it? He probably should have kept this one to himself, because it's too easily misunderstood.

Sadly, with this crowd it will require baby steps. Many here are attacking a political cartoonist because of their own stupidity in undertanding it. This thread alone, is why no group should be able to ban things they don't like. Half of the people evidently don't understand what they read. Some even claim it doesn't matter what the author meant, since they think it is a threat so that is that.

Stupidity scares me.

that's my take on it, too...
a bound prisoner of politics about to be executed by politics.
I am not sure why Dubya is supposedly vulnerable to politics at the moment... unless the cartoon refers to the "uranium thing"

500 posts and counting, all because people (including Drudge) are too stupid to realize this is a POLITICAL CARTOON, not a call to shoot Bush. And it's ON THEIR SIDE, EVEN!

It's that you have to post something like this that makes me realize how dangerous the Rats are. After all, if people who have been smart enough to be conservative can't understand this cartoon, why would we give unlimited power to all the sheeple in government?

Thank God for the Constitution and First Amendment to it.

That's what I was thinking, also. It looks to me like the cartoonist is saying that the stupid Democrats are playing political hardball in an attempt to kill the Bush presidency.

Christ, gillis - do you STILL freeking lurk on FR? You probably know what I think of you, but you're the truthsayer in this.

I shot from the hip; I was wrong. Ramirez's piece was poignant, and it was RIGHT. In more ways than one. He was gigging his audience, too.

Deliciously ironic - don't you agree, jack?

BUSH, with hands tied behind his back, a gun to his head, and Iraq as a drop back.

Yes, by all means, please walk me through it? Show me the humor?

No, it's not "sympathetic" to Bush. It looks more like intense liberal frustration with the ongoing implosion of the Kerry campaign. Rather than "walk us through it", why don't you go get some morning coffee and sober up.
