I made no statements about Ramirez. I said that the cartoon is a clever attack on Bush. Ramirez may not be a liberal but he nonetheless indirectly attacked Bush in this cartoon. The remark about sobering up was a joke and not intended to be taken seriously. There are people who get drunk on Friday nights and remain intoxicated on Saturday morning. Also, I found that guy's post to be rather pompous and I was attempting to shrink his swelled head just a little. It's statistically likely that he's less intelligent and less educated than people like me, yet I don't refer to other people on this website as "dolts."

I've looked at cartoonist Michael Ramirez for years. Some of his cartoons are in good taste and some suck. This one of Bush hands tied behind his back being virtually assassinated went way over the line of political humor. Ramirez and the L.A. Times deserve a visit from the Secret Service. There are limits to First Amendment Rights. Anytime, one of our Presidents, be Republican or Democrat is cartooned to replicate what actually happened in Vietnam over thirty years ago SUCKS. All it does is further denigrate the office of the presidency, and emboldens crazies on the fringe to reenact that act. The argument is not whether Michael Ramirez is conservative or liberal. The issue is having a powerful forum such as a newspaper, and using that power in a responsible manner! In my opinion, it does not matter of his intent, it's matter of irresponsible publishing.
