SEATTLE Sen. Maria Cantwell says tabloid television talk show host Jerry Springer would make a fine senator for Ohio.
"I think people will be surprised by his intellect," the Washington state Democrat told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "There's much more to him than his TV show. He's an incredibly smart person."
Springer, 59 and once mayor of Cincinnati, filed papers on Monday to run for the U.S. Senate. He will not decide whether to actually run for the Democratic nomination until later this month, said Mike Ford, his political adviser.
Cantwell, Washington state's junior senator, was an unpaid volunteer for Springer's successful run for Cincinnati mayor in 1977. In 1982, she worked as a paid member of his campaign when he lost his bid for governor of Ohio. "He's a policy wonk," Cantwell told the P-I, being careful to note that her opinion is based on his political career, not his fame as a talk show host whose nationally syndicated show has featured strippers and skinheads

Fellow Creighton alum and US Attorney John L. McKay will easily defeat Cantwell.

After Clinton we should all remember that character counts and this guy has none regardless of how intellectual he might be.

Good grief. I don't know which of my Senators is the bigger moron. Cantwell vs Murray. One defends Osama and his public works projects. The other defends Jerry Springer.

It's more about Springer and his intellect than how he would represent the people of Ohio or what he must really think of ordinary people. If he fools enough people to get himself elected, the people of Ohio will get what they deserve.

"I think people will be surprised by his intellect," the Washington state Democrat told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "There's much more to him than his TV show. He's an incredibly smart person."Yeah right. ALL incredibly smart people love having trashy daytime talk shows about incest and fat strippers.

I should point out all the Libertarians who were crowing about helping Cantwell get elected because Gorton was "too socialist". And then they demand that WE come over to their side if we want help. No thanks, boys. You can f*ck up your picnic all by yourself.

"Is this guy more of a Liberal or an Libertarian?"Neither. He's a Marxist/Socialist.

They say that Caligula once had a horse sworn in as a Roman Senator. What hath the Democratic Party in the US wrought? What is their future?
How low can they sink? Why aren't there thinking Democrats deserting that party in droves?
Is it any wonder that clinton apoints people like Elders, Reno etc. There don't seem to be any Democrats that would available to engender pride.

I sincerely apologise to all the Freepers that read this thread for the socialist/anti-American mental midgets we've sent to Washington, D.C. lately.
There's a group of us that work hard to try and change the political environment, but we need the help of the military. Several neutron bombs in the Seattle/Tacoma/Bellingham/Olympia area would be a good start. Then us ground soldiers could root out the remaining cockroach dimocRATS and squash them.
One would think that all the foot-in-the-mouth moments our esteemed politicians have provided conservatives we'd have a multitude of quality candidates chomping at the bit to jump into the arena to decapitate them. Fat chance. We might end up with no serious challenger for Governor, Senator Osama Bin Murray, (another genius), and state attorney general. She by the way was one of the lead complainants in the massive tobacco settlement theft. Two years later she sold the award off for .25 on the dollar to help our Tax to the Max Governor shore up the state budget deficits. Did I mention the Governor vetoed legislation this session preventing ILLEGAL aliens from receiving in-state tutition rates? We'll probably give them or the tribes the state soon. They can't possibly do any worse leading than the dimocRATS have for the past 20 years.

Chalk one up for Cantwell but Murray continues to take the cake. And the idiots in Seattle will probably send her back to the Senate in 2004. What an embarrassment!
To: bellevuesbest
Sadly, I believe you are correct. The pinhead in tennis shoes will likely win reelection.
