Why dont they just hoot and cheer?
Theyre inviting some possible misunderstanding, seeing as they are living in a war zone. And those bullets have to come down somewhere.
Plus, bullets cost money, if they can even buy them anymore over there.
We should give them New Years Eve noisemakers and party hats when we really capture him.

You mean the rumor is fictitious -- right? -- not that there wasn't a celebration of the Shi'is who believed the rumor. That, and the fact that the videotape was released in an apparent response to the celebration, is encouraging news.

This may sound a little too hopeful, but I saw a brief notice this morning of FR that three "important" Baathists had been nabbed by us in Northern Iraq. No more information.
Certainly, this news would get out very fast through the same channels that had been supporting Saddam, and would probably reach his enemies (Shia) pretty quickly, too.
I don't know. But wouldn't it be wonderful????

Spreading rumors about the capture/death of Saddam and or his sons to judge the response of the people would not be a bad idea. Keeps the Democrats on their toes too.
