Democrats should be held accountable!
Paperjam | Fri, 18 July, 2003 | Paperjam

The case can’t be clear enough that Saddam and Iraq as a whole were a serious threat to the entire region and an evil that had to be eradicated.

What is really upsetting is that Democrats are getting our guys in uniform KILLED! All this bitching about our President lying to the American public is high octane fuel to an unstable Iraq. In Saddam’s latest tape, he is clearly quoting our Democratic Congressmen. This quote coming from a Fox news article highlights it quite well, “The new tape thanked Iraqis for resisting the coalition’s occupation of Iraq, said the Americans and the British lied in intelligence reports to their own people and called on Iraqis to kick the Americans out of the country.”

Democrats should be held accountable for the number of Americans killed by resistance fighters encouraged by the rhetoric here at home. They (Democrats) are clearly attempting to gain political ground using the blood of our American solders who by the way are the son’s and daughters of the constituents they purport to represent! They are encouraging, almost daring a jihad be launched against out troops to embarrass our President for the “atrocity” of liberating Iraq, to call for too quick an end of our presence there before we can finish cleaning house, and to drag our troops home in what can only be defined as a defeat if we concede. They are hell bent on setting the stage for another Viet Nam and are too willing to say or do anything to ensure it happens. ONLY FOR POLITICAL GAIN!

It’s so wonderful that we have such an open society that we can publicly criticize our political officials. But, the public damage inflicted reaches so much farther than U.S. television sets. Our Democratic Presidential hopefuls have been acting like a bunch of fleas leaping to the latest stink that wafts by. They hold no regard to the fact that other countries are watching and using what’s said to wedge their own public support against us.

Like it or not we are a global society and what happens in our house affects the entire world. It’s high time that Democrats face up to the fact that their stinging criticism fuels discontent and encourages fanatical régimes to resist our efforts to improve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness throughout the world. Their complete rejection of this President makes the world so much more difficult for so many.

A perfect example of the above statement is President Bush’s recent trip to Africa. Instead of marking a milestone of achievement in support for the countries of Africa and lauding his efforts to stem the tide of a frightful disease, reduce hunger, and highlight the terrible practice of slavery which still occurs today, Democrats decided to embark on a smear campaign to erase it from the news altogether. This almost ensures that nothing of real substance will occur there and condemns Africans once again to the back burner. Even the leader of the Congressional Black Caucus rejected its significance. It doesn’t matter that the trip highlighted causes that are typically espoused by Democrats as Democratic causes. It doesn’t matter that the economies of these countries have a global impact and that fluctuations in their economies cause fluctuations around the world. And it doesn’t matter that the rest of the world will now feel less inclined to provide any assistance what so ever because our Democratic leaders are reluctant to even acknowledge those in such abject poverty. A billion dollars of our money are now at risk of going to waste because of Democratic hatred.

Our Democratic leaders have embarked on a path of total destruction for the sole purpose of political gain and have no concern or regard for any of the lives they endanger while on the offensive.

If it is as the DemocRAT claims it to be, that we are in a Guerrilla War, then the RATS are giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war.

The Democrats still praise Hanoi Jane (Fonda).

DemoRats need to be made aware of how their words and actions are affecting their country and their military. And, all for what? To win the next election.

There have long been certain things you just do not do as a matter of honor. For example, ex-presidents not overtly criticizing their successors. The D's continue to abandon these traditions.

As for making them accountable, other than just at voting time, the best thing is to speak your mind about their irresponsibility, as paperjam has done.

I think you're going in the right direction. We need to put Democrats on the defensive for lying about Bush's SOTU and consequently diminishing our cause in the Middle East. No one believes we went to war in Iraq over yellow cake. Everyone knows the world is safer without Saddam. What are we arguing about? For Democrats, this has everything to do with 2004 and nothing to do with the truth. We went to war for all the right reasons and liberals are trying to justify their ambivalence towards this just war by dishonestly spotlighting a trivial matter. We need to bring back images of suffering children in Iraq to remind the American people what we fought for. Tony Blair made the case so eloquently, that we fought for American values, that I wish the Bush Admin. would simply take his speech and repeat it to the American people. Once again, Democrats are on the wrong side of the fight for freedom. They are polishing the image of Saddam and damning the cause of America. It's important to make this case- because it shows Democrats are not to be trusted in the ongoing fight on terrorism.

Because they have no ideas or leadership, the Democrat presidential candidates have been reduced to

So far all they've done is attack the President who is our representative to the rest of the world. They are putting their own candidacies and party above our nation's good. They are not the "loyal opposition" but the knee-jerk anti-Bushes (knee optional).

The only way to end that fate is to declare victory and bring the boys home.

I'd love to play some of you people in a game that required strategy, because you apparently have no understanding of it.

Iraq is a brilliant strategic gambit, and it's going to cost lives. However, it may avert more mass-murders of civilians in the United States proper. What's not to like about that?

If you only kick an Arab cur once then turn your back on him, look out for his teeth in the back of your leg.

Conservatives generally believe the best defense is a well armed citizenry and decentralized government, rather than occupying a country a half a world away to playout the dreams of Ivy League geeks who use American solidiers as pawns.

Do you disagree?

You are absolutely correct. However this is NOTHING new. The gimmies have been socialist loving, commie sympathising, America hating, treasonous SOB's for the past 50 years. What is truly amazing to me is that more than 12 % of the population VOTES for them!! Truly discouraging, disheartening and just plain SCARY!

What particularly galls me is that the Democrats are now attacking President Bush even though the Republicans gave Clinton a free ride while he was President (except for that impeachment thingy).

<< .... Operation Iraqi Freedom was simply a decisive chapter in a war which had been going on for over 12 years. The original Gulf War was never completed. >>

Way over 12 years.

World War Four was begun in 1979 by the traitor, Jimmah KKKahtah, whose treason also predetermined the coming battle with "china." For America's Panama Canal.

President Reagan's winning of WW3 was marked by his comprehensive destruction of the Moscow Soviets' evil empire [The one granted it by another American traitor, Roosevelt, with the assistance of his Soviet-agent-infiltrated, managed and directed "administration."

The Gulf War was concluded upon the execution of its un mandate which, along with his own timidity and the timidity of his advisors and Joint Chiefs' Chairman, limited President George Herbert Walker Bush [41] to the expulsion of Sadam's Iraqi forces from Kuwait.

President George Walker Bush has been resolute in not permitting himself to be limited by any of the un or the clowns who so poorly advised 41.

I pray the American people will long remember the sedition and downright treason practiced by the current crop of self-serving democrats.

Let them be out of power forever.

AMEN

I'm a strict Constitutionalist, but I understand that we're not "occupying a country a half a world away to playout the dreams of Ivy League geeks who use American solidiers as pawns". We're using Iraq to neutralize the Saudis, and blow some cold air up the skirts of the Iranians and the Syrians.

You don't have a grasp of the whole Islamic thing, and what it really is about. The jihad-boys love to read statements like yours, because that means that they can with impunity turn more civilian airliners and office buildings into burger-grinding barbeques to further their goals in Dar al-Harb.

We did Tripoli in 1805 for similar reasons, and that was in the lifetime of the Founders. So I guess I don't have a problem with us doing it now.

Conservatives also believe that human beings wish to live under civilized rules and aren't a pack of whining curs willing to be led by the first tyrant that comes their way.

If you could just link me to your post where you demanded a Declaration of War, I might actually believe this claim:

I'm a strict Constitutionalist

Is that tacit support for nation building?

Sorry, conservatives don't support that.

I'll say it flat out. The Democratic Party and their accomplices in the mainstream press - by lying about conditions on the ground in Iraq daily, by continuing to hand our enemies their pens, by siding with nations that opposed our entering the war to build their own pro-EU socialist coalition - making the USA subservient to the UN and international socialist organizations - are not only endangering the lives of our troops and giving aid and comfort to our enemies - they are committing treason.
