How about the new highway named for Clinton in his home stste of Arkansas? It's a little crooked, and has a long yellow streak down the center. Be careful if you drive on it, it's a little slick.

Manufacturers announced today that they will be stocking America's shelves this week with "Clinton Soup, to honor one of the nation's most distingushed men". It consists primariy of a weenie in hot water.

These are the kinds of thoughts, I love reading or hearing. There are not enough positive attitudes around these days. It's time President Bush stand up and tell everyone they don't know what they're talking about, let's finish the job, support the soldiers around the globe and take America out of the gutter that some politicians keep trying to pull us into.

We're always walking on top of the fence, teetering one way or another. Why do some Americans find it necessary to help our enemies push us the wrong way? It's a matter of values and ethics. Without either, you have no character, without character you are mentally and morally bankrupt.

Time for some frank talk from "W", and put all of the whining in perspective from those clamboring for attention in vane attempts at getting nominated for President.

Here's my report card for Tony Blair's speech. He gets a B+ for effort and enthusiasm, but doesn't quite make an A grade because of the uncertainty he faces at home, and a few distractions from the message. Also, he fails to address the issue of President Bush's state of the union speech. He could have taken this opportunity to explain that it is no issue, and that the press is all wrong. But that would have meant admitting that we are sharply divided as a people, from one end of the Anglosphere to the other, and politicians are loath to do such things. However, Mr. Blair's strong reaffirmation of Anglo military unity was solid and just in time.

I was roused by his comments on Americans and freedom, much as was Congress: this was the one that received the loudest cheers.

Tell them why Americans, one and all, stand upright and respectful. Not because some state official told them to, but because whatever race, color, class or creed they are, being American means being free. That's why they're proud.
Also good: he made it clear that the War on Terror is alive and well. And even better, he declared the Clintonian multipolarity concept of cutting America down the size and evening it out with the rest of the world powers dead, even dead as long ago as the 19th century. Blair's comments about America's destiny to lead were honest and forthright. I hope many other Brits are happy to admit it, and I believe we can share this leadership with them and any other modern nation that steps forward to join us. Japan and Australia come to mind. So do Poland and Czechlosovockia.

While Blair identified the indoctrination of Arab children as a prime source of terrorism, he falters (much as does President Bush) by leaving the Palestinian issue in with the ones the west has to solve before terrorism will go away. I believe the Palestinian issue was invented by Arafat, the Wahabis, and the Nazis, and I would prefer that our leaders admit this as well. Furthermore, I do not see poverty as a terror trigger. Poverty has many causes, but in the Muslim third world, one of them is fundamentalism. If it's the other way around as well, there isn't much we can do about it.

Furthermore, I question Blair's assertion that our battles in Iraq and on terrorism were not part of a war of civilizations. I think they are, and the sooner we admit it, the better off we'll be. Churchill would have come right out and said it.

Finally, Blair trundles out the generic concept of "peace process" with apologetic reluctance. Of course he is speaking about Kashmir and Palestine. He also refers to Northern Ireland for some reason, although I fail to see the commonality other than the fact that British troops are well-trained for bomb searches. I've already decided that the peace process in Israel is about forcing the Jews to give more and more concessions while Europe and America ignore the Palestinian march to push Israel into the sea. The hell with the peace process. We must remember what the bible often says about smiting the enemies of the Jewish people. For example, in first Chrinicles chapter 14 verse 15 we read:

And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
Let's got to it. Peace will come when the enemies of the west have no more strength to fight.

The political culture of Europe is inevitably rightly based on compromise. Compromise is a fine thing except when based on an illusion. And I don't believe you can compromise with this new form of terrorism.

Really? You will never compromise with terrorism? Then why do you support creating a terrorist state?

I want to be very plain: this terrorism will not be defeated without peace in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine.

So giving the terrorist regime of the PA a state will defeat terrorism? Yeah right. What's more, notice that he uses the term "Palestine" as if it already exists.

And why has a resolution of Palestine such a powerful appeal across the world? Because it embodies an even-handed approach to justice

Ha ha ha. Anyone have that picture of a "Palestinian" collaborater hanging in front of the potrait of Arafat?

May this never compromise the security of the state of Israel.

It already has.

I watched the speech on C-Span last night, as well as the Press Conference with The President. I think Tony Blair is eloquent without being sanctimonious in both his prepared remarks as well as in a Q & A situation. The quality of that eloquence is a product of the sincerity he is attempting to express, IMO.

The speech was an enjoyable experience to view, marred only by the disgusting and disturbing behavior of some Democrats: The Clinton smirk, the Waters sourpuss, and more than one napping "elected official" I failed to recognize (like these guys work so hard they're falling asleep at the switch). Overall, it seemed the Demwits were working overtime to not be overly-enthused about anything Blair was saying. And what's up with Levine, affecting the Ben Franklin readers-on-the-tip-of-the-nose "c'mon, whoya tryin to kid?" look? I thought I saw Trent dozing too, but I think he was writing something. I don't recall seeing Bob Graham there either, maybe he was out working on his impeachment case..

What a crew...

Thank you for this post.
I was able to download the speech from the PM's web site, but it was devoid of the extemporaneous portions ---- the funniest.
