By Pat Simms-Chamberlain, Immigration Chair, CFRW-Southern Division.
At the LACFRW Meeting, June 25th, this chairman reported on "Social Security for Illegal Aliens", referring to my CFRW-Southern Division Immigration Report. I received shocking new information that was also presented at this meeting. Both reports are included here for your perusal.
Officals at the State Dept. and Social Security Administration are furiously working behind the scenes to enact an agreement with the Mexican government to extend Social Security to Mexicans who worked here illegally or used false social security numbers.
The idea of adding a billion-dollar annual burden to a Social Security system already teetering on collapse to reward immigrants who broke the U.S. immigration laws is so outrageous that even its proponents know it would never survive public scrutiny.
But, the scary part is that neither you nor anyone in Congress will be allowed any say in the matter until the agreement is finalized!
As that point, we will have just 60 days to stop this scheme through decisive Congressional action.
Unless your elected representatives in both houses of Congress hear from you immediately, Social Security payments to illegal aliens under this scheme, could begin as early as October 2003, their targeted date.
Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA, has introduced legislation H.R. 1631, "No Social Security for Illegal Aliens". The bill would forbid any Social Security credits for illegal aliens or work in violation of the terms of a visa.
This would emphatically not affect those who have a legal right to work, such as legal permanent residents or those who have valid work visas.
You can help by educating friends and relatives about the proposed "Totalization Agreement" with Mexico and encourage them to ask their representatives to sponsor H.R. 1631.
We must stop this reckless plundering of the Social Security Trust Fund on behalf of those who broke the law to enter the United States.
URGENT ACTION NEEDED! Tell Congress "NO" Social Security benefits for illegal aliens...today.. before it's too late.
Call any Representative, Senator, or Committee in Washington, D.C., at (877) 762-8762 or (800) 648-3516.
Also call the White House to voice your opposition to Social Security benefits for illegal aliens, they need to know where you stand. WhiteHouse Hotline - (202) 456-1414 or (202) 456-1111.
Just pondering. Could this Treaty be sent to Congress during the summer when Congress is not in session and members scattered all over? The summer break is scheduled from June 28th to September 2, 2003.
