Bill Jones (R) is the Best Candidate to unseat Gray Davis (D-CA to be recalled)

Bill Jones (R) is the Best Candidate to unseat Gray Davis (D-CA)

There’s a lot of things I love about California – the gold country, the wine country. It is where Ronald Reagan really started his political stardom – but that was the good ol’ days of politics in California. Yes, there are a lot of things I love about California, but politics isn’t one of them, at least not in the last couple years lately. I hate the liberals and the Democrats who have a strangle-hold on the State, and, there are just a lot of "A"-political or stupid-political folks in the State. They just keep electing, and reelecting, Democrats.

But, something is happening in California, it’s political, and it looks good. It’s the recall. Sure, some Bush operatives and check-pants Republican oligarchy types are against the recall, and their opposition has nothing to do with any “strategery” such as leaving a weak D candidate in office to be picked off in the next election.

No, they oppose it because it isn’t them leading the way - it was started independently by conservatives, by a “right-wing” Bay Area talk show, and there’s a bunch of just plain folks supporting it, conservatives, and, well, the check-pants are against that because these folks are showing some muscle, some power. And, even if it doesn’t succeed in unseating the current Governor, it was a show of force, of grass roots force, and it puts ideas in their heads, ideas about power, and power begets more power. And so, that’s why the check-pants are against it – because you can have them conservative peasants gettin’ the feel for power.

But, them folks is doing it. And God bless them. Don’t listen to the check-pants, California – and don’t wait around for the “next election”. Show what you can do now. It’s important. Very important. You are making history. It’s better you make the history instead of the check-pants.

So, the only question is – who should be the contender to Gray-out Davis? Issa is a hero, no doubt. Conservative GOP Rep. Darrell Issa donated nearly $700,000 toward the recall effort - he is a leader in the recall effort, and we all owe him a lot for his dedication, effort, money, and principle. But, California, you should choose Bill Jones.

It’s not just my opinion. Former Secretary of State Bill Jones is the best candidate to unseat Gray Davis in the recall. It’s a fact. California, you need to Bill Jones, you want Bill Jones, you got to go with Bill Jones – there are a lot of smart political junkies, who also happen to be native Californians, who agree, who know, who see eye to eye with what I'm suggesting and so many others who are a whole lot smarter than I am about California hard-ball politics - and, this is going to be hard-ball, believe it.

I like Bill Jones, he was my choice in the primary but he lost to Bill Simon, another good man but not my choice. And yes, all the suggested contenders have positive qualities, for different reasons – for example, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, National Security Advisor for Bush, would womp Gray Davis by a generously respectful margin if she ran for Governor of the Golden State, but she won’t. And, anyway, I would still support Bill Jones even if she ran, because I wouldn’t want to see the Davis ghouls and the Democrats, and the local CA press, dig up some false or outrageous dirt on her because she’s too nice of a lady to get involved in California politics. She doesn’t need the shameful local California leftist press to exhume some irrelevant event in her past and spin it into some ugly, sham, embarrassment.

You have Arnold. Sure, we can’t predict what he would do, or exaclty where he’s at – but we still, admit it, like him. But, it would be a mistake. Just trust the political gurus on this one, and I’m not counting myself as one of them gurus, I just listen to them.

You got former L.A. mayor Riordan – liberal, but he is a Republican, and I don’t hate him or nothing for that (for being a liberal, that is). We are told, because he’s a liberal, he can win California from Davis for the Republicans. I say not. I say, he’s already lost once (yes, yes, I know, Mr. Jones lost already once as well, but I will get to that), and he can’t win, he can’t muster the votes. He can’t. Don’t buy into the “Hispanic vote” (for Riordan) crap. He can’t win.

Actually, losing to Simon is to Jones’ credit in this case – he never went one on one against Davis, so you can’t say Jones lost to Davis already once. But you can say that about Simon. Simon is a great guy – but he won’t win this one.

Now Jones is the only one, verse Riordan and Simon, that has run in and won a statewide election, because Bill Jones was overwhelmingly elected by Californians to be secretary of state -- twice. The only Republican in 1998 to win at a time when Democrats took over all the other statewide offices and two-thirds of both legislatures.

Bill Jones has a lot of the political know-how, connections – true, he doesn’t have the money, but he’s got some money, there are and will be backers, and he can raise the money. He can.

As “Gray” as this sounds, Bill Jones is the most qualified, there is no one more qualified to govern the Gold State than Jones. His family has been farmer folks for generations – and he’s native, native Californian, he’s been getting the preparation to run the State for years, 20 years of public life. Some folks hold that against a candidate, argue that’s a reason to back someone not part of politics, like Arnold. I suppose it sounds good, but Bill Jones is good politics, he’s public life is real experience, and he will do the right thing. Everyone who know him, knows this is true. Before politicin’ he was a successful business man.

Bill Jones – for CALIFORNIA.

Bill Jones can oppose Gray Davis, and will have the rhetoric and skills to do it because he has a track record of talking tough about Davis and his policies. And, like I said, he already ran in a Republican primary, lost, but whatever dirt the liberals were going to trick with on him, they already looked everywhere and shot their load – they didn’t find nothing, and what they used will be old news and won’t sell. Sure, Jones switched from Bush to McCain after New Hampshire, but so what? Bush isn’t really THAT much better than McCain anyway these days, considering. He’s the biggest spender in 50 years plus. Not knocking Bush or nothing, but I think Buffalo Bush supported Riordan – that really stunk – but, heck, how much would you bet that even a domestic liberal like George Bush would support Bill Jones on this one, ‘cause Bill Jones just has a lot of credibility, period. He’s a winner, folks!

1) Served for 12 years in the State Assembly and have twice been elected Secretary of State, receiving almost 12 million votes.

2) Authored and passed California's "3 Strikes" law, which has reduced crime by over twice the national average.

3) Strongly supported Prop 73, the first successful campaign finance reform law to limit campaign contributions to candidates.

4) Successfully co-authored Prop 204, the Safe, Clean, Reliable Water Supply Act.

5) Reformed California’s election process, registering or re-registering over 9 million voters while removing over 3 million ineligible voters to prevent voter fraud!

6) Aggressively fought and won a lawsuit to retain legislative term limits.

7) Set up an Internet campaign contribution disclosure system which forces candidates to report contributions over $1,000 within 24 hours on a website that is accessible to every citizen - www.cal-access.ss.ca.gov
=

And most important of all, he’s not only a nice guy, not only seasoned, ready, smart, fair, honest, he’s a fighter, and if HE CAN BE CONVINCED TO GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY, let’s TALK HIM INTO IT! What do you say? This is more than a gut feeling – if you know California, and it’s politics, you will agree with many politico gurus who say, Bill Jones is the best candidate to unseat Davis as this recall catches the world by storm. And, besides – HE KNOWS HOW TO GROW GRAPES!

It's midnight back East, but it's 10pm in California. So you Easterners are all asleep, don't matter anyway you won't be voting of the left coast - you could send some money over to the recall effort, however. As for California, it's late, and thus probably a good time to post a vanity like this anyhow - but if you're out there, say "Bill Jones". You're gonna' start to like it.

Living in CA, I had interest in Jones in 2002. However, it became apparent, for whatever reason, that he just doesn't have the name recognition (yes he held statewide office, but it was for the low-visibility Secy of State position) or the dynamism to get the masses behind him. He would be a great member of the next gov's administration- he's very competent.

I voted for Jones in the primary. I thought he won the debate against Simon and Riordan.

Oh well.

Too conservative for "blue" California, where the votes are. And unknown outside of the Central Valley.
