CINCINNATI, Posted 6:33 p.m. EDT July 14, 2003 -- In the movie "The Sixth Sense," a young boy said he saw dead people. In Cincinnati, a boy said he could see angels.

NewsChannel5 reported that the boy, Ryan Reynolds, died in April from a brain tumor. Before he died, he told his mother he had a great time at a family picnic because he was surrounded by his guardian angels.

"My parents died way before he was ever born, and he said, 'Mommy, your mommy and daddy,'" said Shirley Reynolds, Ryan's mother. "I said, 'Yeah, what about them?' He said, 'Is that them in the picture on the wall?' And I said 'Yes.'And he said, 'Mom, I just wanted you to know, they're both OK.' He said, 'They're just as pretty as they are in that picture, except they have wings and they're waiting for me.'"

Three different cameras using three different kinds of film were developed at three different places and all had the same transparent white shapes.

"I guess we'll all find out, sooner or later. Are you prepared for your eternal dirt-nap? Just curious."

Prepared? Heck no. I plan on living quite a bit longer. When I die, though, I'll be cremated, so no dirt nap for me. In the meantime, I've got a lot of living to do.

I know a six year old woho says things like this all the time, and has been doing so for years. women I know say their kids experience angels. What is the big deal about believing them?

I wonder about this family's motive. I wouldn't go rushing off to the media if I'd just lost a child. But, whatever comforts them.

My politics are eclectic. However, I expect every person to treat every other person with a certain degree of courtesy and respect, unless that person behaves in a dangerous, threatening, or discourteous manner.

So, when it comes to politics you believe in courtesy, but when it comes to the parents of a dead child relating a comforting story, it's okay to be rude, a la, "Family is stupid"?

I've been around a lot of people as they died...some were unconscious, but some were awake and aware...one, a young woman with cancer, spoke clearly about seeing the beautiful flowers of heaven, smelling the wonderful perfume...she saw her parents waiting for her, and died with her eyes wide open, free of pain, and smiling.

I have no problem with someone who does not believe in God, or heaven, or the angels of a little boy dying...but I certainly don't think the family is stupid. I'm grateful they are comforted.

Whoops, I didn't mean to imply you didn't believe this story, am just responding to the general negative comments. Thank you for this post.

There has been other stories of small children who survived near-death experiences or were close to dying seeing angels.

Why not monsters or demons?

I tend to believe the children's stories - apparently there's an "Age of Innocence" where small children are allowed to see things that older people can't.

No matter how much this happens, there is always going to be room for doubt for those who don't believe... At least on this side of the "veil"...

>>>I plan on living quite a bit longer.

Things don't always go according to plan.

>>>When I die, though, I'll be cremated

If your tagline is correct and you're an atheist, than no kidding, you'll be cremated.

I don't believe in the existence of any supernatural entities of any kind

An angel isn't any more of a "supernatural entity" than you or me. An angel is a simple substance, a substantial form, without matter. An angel is pure intellect. Humans are compound substances, form and matter, but like angels, also have a substantial form, called the "soul" or "intellect."

If you think about it, you'll see that thought is an essentially spiritual activity. Our intellects are spiritual, not material. Otherwise, it would be impossible for a person to reflect upon himself and to objectify his own body. However, the spiritual human soul is naturally linked to the body, and depends upon the body for the acquisition of sensory information.

My Mother died two weeks ago, while I was unreachable because of moving. Had just spoken to her the Friday preceeding her sudden death. Didn't find out until 3 days later when I called to give my new info. Later that night, early morning, I noticed the clock in tthe living room (battery oporated) stopped at a quarter till three. The battery has lasted up tto 2 years before and I had replaced it 3 months ago.

I just got the feeling it was my mom getting my attention. Then 2 days ago, I called my aunt (whom was there when she passed) and she said that 2:42 was the time they called time of death.

No white spots on pictures, but, spirits get through to us in different ways.

I feel sad for MineralMan being a non believer. Prayers for you going up.

Whatever you believe in is just fine with me. I don't care. But don't state as fact something that is merely something you believe. It is what you believe, and nothing more.

That looks exactly like a water spot on the camera lens.

“…no photo’s….no angels”

So everything that you can’t see, smell, feel, hear or taste doesn’t exist either?

What is the big deal about believing them?

Belief in angels would require openness to the existence of God and the existence of a fixed moral code. You can guess the rest.

Family is stupid.

The whole family? Who is to say manifestations of the noosphere can't or won't ever appear to physical instruments? It's probably just an optical light flare, but the other phenomena as reported are just as real as anything else in the world of man--comfort, security, freedom.

Family is stupid.

How would you know? Were you there?

Just because you don't (apparently) believe in God and his angels doesn't make someone who does stupid...

Interesting part of the story (if anyone would bother to listen to the video) is that there were three *DIFFERENT* cameras, with three *DIFFERENT* film types, processed at three *DIFFERENT* stores all with the same images, all with exactly the same shape.

Add to that a video camera which also captured the same pictures.

I'm not saying they were angels either, but the circumstances sure make for an interesting story.

'Is that them in the picture on the wall?

My father had similar comments just before his death 4 years ago. He was talking to "friends" in the room and some looking through an invisible window. He laughed and told them all stories. He was very irritated that I could not see them, too.

He even acted out going to the feed store with one of them and bought mustard seed. He hated mustard greens and always planted turnips instead. I am sure that he had enough faith that he needed a whole bag of seed to go with it.

I recognized at the time he was seeing spirits that were getting him ready to go Home. He stayed with us for a few more days, then deteriated quickly. I stayed at his side after the equipment was disconnected and walked him to the Gate.

It was the most profound experience I will ever go through. I can't wait to see him when I get there.

Why not monsters or demons?

That's a good question, and a reason why adult experiences should be treated with a reasonable degree of skepticism. After all, Lucifer can disguise himself as an angel of light.

Interestingly, I saw a "near death experience" program where a dying libertine had a "near hell experience." The man was a dying, dissolute college professor who experienced a feeling of falling into a dark pit and being continuously clawed at. He finally cried, "Jesus save me!"

He felt hands "pick him up" and the clawing dissipated. Eventually he regained consciousness.

I tend to believe his story because he is now an ordained minister.
