[history]
A group of American makers of wood bedroom furniture is preparing to seek protection from the U.S. government to stem a surge of imports from China that the companies say has ravaged their industry.
John Bassett, president and chief executive of Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Co., Galax, Va., and a spokesman for the group of 14 furniture makers, said the American Furniture Manufacturers Committee for Legal Trade intends to file an antidumping petition this fall with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission.

Ah, finally! You've told us what you do. In other words, you're personally making money hand over fist from all the outsourcing that's going on. Well, now we know, don't we? I was right, wasn't I? Now we know why you're such a "free traitor". Well... that, and I'm Jewish.

"There'll be so many Christians like you in hell, their butts will be sticking out the windows!"It will be good if you butt is out the window, that way the people on the street will have a better view of your brains.
Now take you namecalling and other liberal tactics to someone who cares what you think.

I think the initial tipping point is when they see it happening to their friends and co-workers (before it happens to them of course).

although this thread may have been about the NC manufacturing workers, the private sector white collar middle class is getting hammered by this offshoring, and many of those voters are Republicans. Doesn't sound like they're very strong Republicans seeing as how you say the loss of their job would cause them to vote for a non-Republican.

And I'll stand with Adam Smith anytime. Good, then you'll be buying and hiring American from now on. Good for you.

You don't think the finance sector hasn't lost some jobs in the past few years?
Yet, I'm still here... still a Bush fan (despite his trade protectionism) and still a fan of free trade.

For someone who has been here such a short time, you sure have the liberal screeching and namecalling down to a science.

There you go again. Why can't you "free traitors" ever talk in terms of displaced jobs being anything but "butter churn" jobs or "buggy whip" jobs? You're misrepresenting these jobs lost and you know it! Again, the last time I checked, Americans wear clothes, buy computers and shoes and power tools, and on and on and on. Almost all of these industries are now overseas, and are no longer made in America. And American workers were very happy to have these jobs that you deem "obsolete".
You're downright lying when you pretend that these jobs are "butter churn" jobs. Be honest. You're busy lining your pockets at the "free" trade trough and you don't want anything to stand in your way while you do it.

Your initial comment of "That wouldn't surprised me. " is the reason I thought you really wanted Hillary as President.

Tariffs are taxes, they should not be government tools to manipulate people or turn a tax into a government command and control economy. They are taxes and tools of economic policy and have been since firsat instituted. Learn some history I do not lie. You support the Peeple's Republic of China and w3ish the destruction of the USA so be it That is the direct implication of your position stated above.

I buy and hire American all the time. But not to the exclusion of others.
You give me a choice between buying the same product at the same price from my neighbor or a chinaman, I'll pick my neighbor everytime. That way if anything goes wrong I can let my dog poop on his lawn. LOL

What wouldn't surprise me was the fact that he said many displaced workers may go vote for Hillary. It wouldn't surprise me because their socialist tendencies (if they're asking for even half the help from the federal government that you are arguing for here) are already right in line with hers.

Thanks LOL Perhaps you should forward some of your "war stories" to LibertyandJusticeforall. I don't think they understand this discussion from our perspective.

No, sir, he was NOT, but He also doesn't advocate robbing your neighbor to make a fast buck, which is apparently your interpretation of the Gospel. You know, it's really sickening the way you self-righteous "free traitors" try to act like you're exporting jobs to "save the heathen". Sounds a lot like the Democrats and their "it's for the children" slogans.
To: Texas_Dawg
A spoiled few seeking to have the government forcibly remove the money of the rest of all Americans. A completely ignorant statement on your behalf.

there is a difference between unemployment, and dis-employment. Of course, unemployment is a normal thing in any free market economy. But what we have in the US now is dis-employment, jobs that were held by US workers still exist, but are forcibly moved to another country. Its not the same as when a company whose business is down, is forced to layoff. No matter how many more PCs Dell sells in the US, its customer service department will never employ an additional US worker. For many other companies, they will actually employ less US workers as their US business increases.
And don't tell me that when a person has their job stripped from them, and can't find anything equivalent, and must take a low paid service job, that that does not affect their decision on politics. FDR got elected in 1932 based solely on that.
To: Texas_Dawg
Do you "feel" that being forced by the federal government to pay welfare to people who don't work is a waste of your money? I actually do feel that welfare per se is a waste of money but I am hardly as upset by that as I am about Federal dollars being used to build Chinese manufacturing capacity to compete with American businesses.
