Accused Murderer Scott Woodring Is Dead
By Sheri Diorio
Posted: 7/13/2003

Michigan State Police say Scott Woodring is dead. Woodring is accused in the shooting death of Michigan State Trooper Kevin Marshall.

Police say Woodring was found early Sunday morning in a car at Maple Island Road and 60th Street in Dayton Township on the Newaygo County line. Police say Woodring got out of the car when police approached and pointed an assault rifle at police. That's when police shot and killed Woodring.

The standoff between police and Woodring began last Sunday. That's when police tried to serve Woodring a warrant at his Dayton Township home on charges of accosting children for immoral purposes. During the standoff on Monday, police say Woodring shot and killed Trooper Marshall. On Tuesday after a police fired a percussion round, Woodring's home burned to the ground.

Stay tuned to WZZM 13 for continuing coverage of the Woodring case.

"They show that there is a clear pattern of law enforcement failing to police its own members throughout the entire country."

I see you're learning the chant well.

No, Joe, I do not believe that. I believe the original case against him is closed, as is the case of open murder against him, but I have no doubt that every event which transpired will be closely scrutinized by the county and state.

You mean covered up...it happens every time.

You would think they would at least try to come up with something original.

Well them man is speaking the truth. This pattern has been going on before you were born. Of course this isn't a blanket statement to all law enforcement, however, the pattern in clear and goes on rather routinely.

The agent was brought before a grand jury by county prosecutors. The good citizens of Anne Arundel County who perform their duties on that panel did not bring charges.

Wait until someone in your family has this happen to them. Possibly your opinion of the "good" citizens on the grand jury will change.

As someone said on a different thread "we have a legal system in this country--not a justice system".

Ah, poor Joe Neverhasenuf...statistically a member of the malitia is more likely to be a raving lunatic then a cop being crooked.

Does that make them all cop killing losers? Not at all...just the ones who go beyond chanting the mantra and kill police officers.

SWAT wasn't there when Woodring killed the state patrol officer - what planet are you visiting this time?

Trooper Marshall was ON the SWAT team. If he wasn't there, how did he get shot? For that matter, a neighbor had reportedly seen Scott scooting out of the house BEFORE the shooting started. How could HE have shot the Trooper who wasn't there?

It doesn't matter. CWOJackson said he was scum and that should be good enough for anyone...

Huh, we were speaking in generalities here. Want to get on the same page.

Yeah, but you said he was guilty. Case closed right?

Typical. You tried to imply a LE whitewash on the matter. Proven wrong, you go after the citizens who watchdog for the community. They had all the facts, you don't.

Nothing fleshs out a cop-hating thread more then comments from a Dead Corpse...and this one isn't even Woodring.

Yes, and remember their rabid defense of that sick piece of crap. They always howl when one of theirs is proves to be nothing more then a demented killer.

The guilty perp's lament.

Well, in that instance, why don't you explain to everyone on this thread just exactly what the kid shot by agent Braga was guilty of?

He was riding in a red car.

He was wearing a baseball hat.

He had to release his seat belt to get out of the car when ordered out by the FBI.

Oh, yeah, the car was the wrong make and being driven by a woman.

He sure must have been guilty of something or else the FBI wouldn't have shot him--isn't that right?

"we have a legal system in this country--not a justice system".

It is both. Just as legality can not be guaranteed, justice can not. There is no way to control everything. Shit happens. If you go the Woodring way, that's all that will happen.

BTW, all the cops in the Rodney King incident were guilty of is not being able to deliver good hard effective punches. Randy Weaver was setup, but no one would have known if he didn't give himself up at some point. It was at his trial that the facts were disclosed.

They should have gave Woodring a warning of an imminent 10 count over the bullhorn. Whereupon they'd announce at the conclusion of the count they were going to toss fragmentation grenades in a quantity sufficient to finish the standoff.

Your too concerned about the plight of the criminal and mixing it up with, and diminishing the plight of the law abiding. You have to focus and keep things separate to be able to think clearly. The very existence of the US depends on protecting the ability of the govm't to govern things, not the ability of any particular individual(s) to dictate their particular will and law upon others.

Let's not let facts get in the way

The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team was requested at the scene. The suspect fired two shots at the officers when negotiations were attempted, police said. After the negotiations failed, a state police entry team entered the residence where they were met with gunfire, according to police.

Marshall was shot in the gunfire. He was transported to Gerber Hospital in Fremont and airlifted to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where he died during surgery, police said.

I don't see where I was proven wrong.

Anyone on this thread old enought to remember Sam Shepherd?

I am not taking the position LE is always wrong. I am taking the position that there should be much greater scrutiny of the stories LE tells, and that the citizenry should have much more control over LE than they do now.
