Leaving children alone in cars is dangerous This was a story in a local paper about a friend of ours who found a baby in a cat and the confrontation she had with the child's mom. It occured July 7th and she emailed me last night with the link. Way to go Danielle!

See that good looking dude on the left? He's got FAR BETTER THINGS to do than conduct Freepathons! Come on, let's get this thing over with.

I just love how doing selfish, harmful things has changed from being 'wrong' to being 'a mistake'

A baby in a cat? Wow!
Seriously though, these people are A-#1 idiots. how the heck do you FORGET about a 4mo--for one hour?! That's not a "terrible mistake", imnsho.

Sheesh! Are people still leaving their kids unattended in the car--esp. on hot days? Makes you wonder what they do at home when no one's watching. I can't imagine any concerned and involved parent ever doing that, ever.
I remember when I was a kid, my parents left our dog in the car on a hot day. The window was cracked, but when we came back out about a half hour later, the dog was almost passed out. I still remember how frantic my parents were. My mother cradled the dog's head in her lap on the ground outside and my Dad helped the dog drink water. My parents learned a valuable lesson.

When I first read the title of the article, I thought it said, "Parents left baby in TRUNK". (!)

Sheesh! Are people still leaving their kids unattended in the car--esp. on hot days? I saw 5 seperate reports yesterday while skimming news sources across the states. Several involving deaths.

After about an hour, as they received the bill, Suzanne Popson realized they'd left their son in his car seat in the back seat of the truck. Jeez. . . shouldn't a 4 month old be the center of a parent's life? How in the world do you just "forget" you have a baby?

It was a big cat. :) *snicker*
But I am getting very tired of these "baby left in car" stories. Child abuse is the least they should be charged with.
Start making it attempted murder or murder and watch in amazement how fast the collective memory of American parents improves.

"I left the diaper bag in the car; I left the car keys in the car; I left my wallet at home and can't pay for this lunch" - those are
mistakes!"I left my baby in the car," is not a mistake - it is child neglect and perhaps abuse (certainly most places during the summer.)
What kind of nitwits believe that rational people would accept that leaving one's own baby in a car for one hour and twenty minutes, is a mistake? On second thought, considering the state of public education today, don't ask.

To answer your question, there seems to be a generation of people out there who are so wrapped up in themselves that they can even "forget" a 4 month old baby in a car. I call it the "ME generation."
So, how IS your golden retriever?

Yeah, this story would certainly be more believeable if the couple in question had said that they forgot and left their baby at home but they remembered to bring the baby from home, just not into the restaurant!

"There is no excuse for people ignoring their parental duties and forgetting their children. It's child abuse."
. . .that is the truth, plain and simple; parental ignorance is no excuse either.

It was a business lunch, obviously involving MONEY, so of course you could forget a 4-month old. Thank God this child didn't suffer any permanent damage.

In Arizona (where I live) I would not leave any living thing in the car for the shortest time in the summer. My dog wants to go on errands with me but I do not let her unless we are doing drive-throughs.
It is horrible that parents would make a child suffer so badly.

So, how IS your golden retriever? The Gilligan man is just fine, thanks for asking. BTW, I never forget about him when he rides in the car.

But I'll bet they didn't leave their wallets in the car or anything they considered of value.
