The grunting, barking duo were a mockery of all things decent about humankind.
Ha ha ha. And yet I know at least 5 Germans who are some of the sweetest people I've ever met. I also know one who goes more toward the description above.

Forget the fact that the German contribution to the Renaissance was the realization that you could fit more beer in a bigger mug Uh....this was sort of an important contribution....because at the time..it put a lot of French dishwashers out of work.

Did you ever notice that in television commercials, the Italians are the only ethnic group left where its ok to stereotype them? I'm thinking of the Olive Garden commercials especially. Notice there's no Irish or Black or Hispanic or Asian stereotypes in commercials; but man, if its somthing remotely Italian, then-a you have-a the stereotype-a Italianos with-a food obssesione. Maybe its because the Italians don't play the victim game, I don't know...

I just got back from Rome. Loved it. However, Italy is no place of grace or supreme culture anymore. Rome was the dirtiest city I've seen in Europe, besides Skopje, Macedonia. There are beggars on every corner. The place reeks of human urine on a hot day. You don't see that in Germany. A friend of mine said the rest of Italy is the same. I did notice they have made Mussolini as kind of a cult figure down there.
Don't read me wrong. I've lived in Germany for three years now, and cannot wait to leave. I cannot stand these lazy, rather incompetent socialist goofs that now populate Germany. But the Italians are not much better-just a little nicer to tourists. They smell just as bad, though.

Jesus boots (that combination of sandals and dark wool socks so beloved by northern Europeans). LMAO!! What a funny, well written article. Go Italy!
(this article is much more enjoyable that the one about the fried penis)

BRAVO Italia! It's time they stood up for themselves and stopped allowing the Germans and french to paint them as almost third world. The country is beautiful and the people are gracious, and there's no reason to strike a subserviant position to the french and Germans.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. I'm sure it was unfair to Germany but then again, Germany hasn't been very fair to us lately.

I wish that Berlusconi wasn't on our side in the Iraq war. We don't need anyone that corrupt.

It's just fine for Germans to call Prime Minister Sharon or President Bush a Nazi - that's not name-calling, it's legitimate political speech. As I recall, the woman who did that got into some serious trouble.

"And my long-standing belief that the Ugly American has long since given way to the Ugly German was confirmed in spades."
I'd rather say he has given way to the 'Annoying American'. A putrid wooden toilet door is not a 'picturesque and rustic work of craftmansship, even if it is foreign. Get a grip and tell your friends.
Had to smile one or two times, though. Even if this here is just a pathetic attempt to cover the American Bullshit Machine with the German One...apart from that it's quite an insult.
