You should read a book called "Doublecross". It's the biography of Sam Giancanna, the Chicago mob boss that helped JFK get elected.
In it the author, Sam's own brother, tells how the mob in the 60's was nurturing young men in the south to get into politics, men they could control. It's instructive on how the mafia saw their natural growth leading into politics where the real power is.
There's no doubt in my mind that when the truth about bj comes out, probably not for 20 years (just like JFK), mob money and influence will be a dominant theme.
