But he said capitalism cannot sustain itself and is bound to collapse.

That Vadillo! What a card! He really ought to consider going into show business as a stand-up act.

All in all, the only useful information in this article is that my Newmont Mining stock looks good. Oh, that is capitalism isn't it?

"An Islamic conference in the Spanish city of Granada has called on Muslims around the world to help bring about the end of the capitalist system."

In a related story, all Democratic Senators have converted to Islam.

You forgot BJ and his alleged spouse, Marxists to their very core, and with a healthy dose of megalomania thrown in.

"He also said private terrorism would find no approval among European Muslims."

Only public terrorism will do... publics all over, in lots of lil' itsy-bitsy pieces.

More on the Islamic goldbugs, who surprisingly(IMHO), would probably get along well with FR's goldbugs, at least the pre-y2k FR goldbugs.

But, Malaysia seems to be all over the place in terms of their political/religious ideologies,

http://www.irna.ir/en/head/030712151231.ehe.shtml

The conference that just ended made a resolution to created a international conglomerate that would receive 1.5% of oil revenues from Muslim oil producing countries for international improvement prjects, i.e. a pan-Caliphate superhighway.

With 1.5 billion Muslims there is always factions to hate, but these anti-capitalist thugs are as powerful in the Muslim world as the anti-capitalists are in the West, capitalism will hold the high ground until such time as we cede the ground. Say by allowing a Mosque to be built in Grenada.

Among the Believers is a great book. If Naipaul had written nothing else, he would deserve the Nobel Prize.

The usual suspects, Edward Said foremost among them, immediately jumped on Naipaul and accused him of all manner of thought crimes. But the book is actually fair and balanced. Naipaul goes out of his way to understand the Muslims on their own terms, and often succeeds in laying bare the common thread of humanity between them and "us" (people in Western civilization).

But the evidence -- and remember, the book came out in 1981! -- is simply too massive to ignore.

The first of four Muslim nations that Naipaul visited was Iran, in 1979 just after the "Islamic Revolution". He describes seeing English-language publications extolling the superiority of Islam being sold on every street corner. One such magazine was called The Message of Peace, and "as its title warned, it was full of rage". (Naipaul can be extremely witty when he wants to.)

He holds out a qualified measure of hope for Indonesia, which may just be distant enough from the Arabs to escape their infectious hatred. I doubt that he would be as optimistic for the Indonesians today.

More than two decades after the publication of Naipaul's book, are we any less blinded by "political correctness"? Stepping away from FreeRepublic, it does not seem that way.

Don't these nutball Muslims know a lot of the original communists were Jews? That should put them off communism, faster than anything else. Just tell them it's a commie plot to wipe out religion, especially Islam.

Islam is in no way a religion. It is a devil worshipping cult of hatred and murder.

Mr Vadillo, a Spanish Muslim, called on all followers of Islam to stop using western currencies such as the dollar, the pound and the euro and instead to return to the use of the gold dinar.

Use of the gold dinar? So what. Does that end capitalism in some way? Nope. Just replaces the currency of transaction.

I'll bet the BBC loved this article and are cheering for these people.

If I were waging the war on terror, this 'symposium' would have been a prime target for a discreet, covert op. This was a 'terrorist enemies of America' strategic event.

To me it sounded like the "old communist" mantra..."my way is the best and only way". But alas to your point, a covert op would be in order. Mark'em,tag'em,track'em and bag'em(all).

If it weren't for capitalism, they would have had trouble gathering everyone together for the conference in the first place!
