Bizarre Game Targets Women: Hunting for Bambi: Parts 1 & 2

(July 10) -- It's a new form of adult entertainment, and men are paying thousands of dollars to shoot naked women with paint ball guns. They're coming to Las Vegas to do it. This bizarre new sport has captured the attention of people around the world, but Channel 8 Eyewitness News reporter LuAnne Sorrell is the only person who has interviewed the game's founder.

George Evanthes has never been hunting. "Originally I'm from New York. What am I going to hunt? Squirrels? Someone's cats. Someone's dogs? I don't think so," said Evanthes. Now that he's living in Las Vegas , he's finally getting his chance to put on his camouflage, grab a rifle and pull the trigger, but what's in his scope may surprise you. He's not hunting ducks or even deer. He's hunting woman. Naked women.

"I've done this three times," says Nicole, one of the three women allowing themselves to be shot at. "I've done this seven times," says Skyler, another woman participating. "I've done it seven times," says Gidget the third woman.

Hunting for Bambi is the brain child of Michael Burdick. Men pay anywhere from $5000 to $10,000 for the chance to come to the middle of the desert to shoot what they call "Bambi's" with a paint ball gun. Burdick says men have come from as far away as Germany. The men get a video tape of their hunt to take home and show their friends.

Burdick says safety is a concern, but the women are not allowed to wear protective gear -- only tennis shoes. Today while the Eyewitness News cameras were rolling, one woman chose to wear bikini bottoms but normally all they wear is their birthday suits.

Burdick says hunters are told not shoot the women above the chest, but admits not all hunters follow the rules. "The main goal is to be true as true to nature as possible. I don't go deer hunting and see a deer with a football helmet on so I don't want to see one on my girl either," said Burdick.

The paint balls that come out of the guns travel at about 200 miles per hour. Getting hit with one stings even with clothes on, and when they hit bare flesh, they are powerful enough to draw blood.

Evanthes shot one of the women and says, "I got the one with the biggest rack."

Gidget is the one who took the paint ball shot to the rear. She says, "It hurt. It really hurt. I didn't think it was going to be that bad. When asked if she cried she says,"yeah, a little bit."

So why do women agree to strip down and run around the desert dodging paint balls? Nicole says it's good money. "I mean it's $2500 if you don't get hit. You try desperately not to and it's $1000 if you do, said Nicole.

Now both the men and women say this is all good, clean fun, but in Part 2 of this story, reporter LuAnne Sorrell spoke with a psychologist who says for some men playing out this sexual aggression may lead to other more violent acts against women.

My statement was more in tune of, If you think nothing is wrong now, and it's all "harmless fun" now, fine, but they'll definitely be overran by nutjobs in the long run once this really REALLY gets out, opposed to maybe having some immature guys thinking it's harmless fun and a few nut jobs now.

I read the article with a growing sense of horror and disbelief.
I went to the LA news site and watched their vids.
I then tracked down the website of these sick little (purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged) entrepreneurs.
My disgust is now without halt or measure.
I have played paintball since 1986.
I know full well what a hit feels like.
ANYONE who would wish to associate infliction of that kind of pain with even the shallowest of casual sex is so diseased of mind that he ought to be taken out behind the house and (purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged)(purged) and finally clubbed to death. There is no other, better way of dealing with such vermin.

Yeah, it's repulsive, and these women are showing their nudity to men they're not married to, which is immoral, and yeah, the guys have "issues"...but...

What did anybody expect?

Whether an intended or unintended effect, feminism makes women obnoxious. Who could spend his life around women whose thinking is contaminated with feminism and not develop "issues?"

Perhaps a man lucky enough to enjoy the society of women who reject feminism, but there aren't enough of those to go around. Or a man so attractive by virtue of physical attributes, occupation, or wealth that he can demand women not be obnoxious to him, but there aren't very many of those either. Or a man who just caves in, identifies with the aggressor (Stockholm syndrome), and becomes feminized, and there are all too many of those.

Frankly, I'm surprised there aren't more men with "issues," rather than fewer.

I think I understand what you're saying, but we can't gestate a baby within our bodies, which must be an incredible Grace.

I'd say that men's and women's Graces are complementary, and sometimes different. Women are just really special. If there weren't any women, life wouldn't be worth living.

Women understand men better than men understand women, but sometimes I think there are things women don't understand, too. And sometimes they think men could just change those things if they wanted to, which isn't always the case.

I certainly hope pretending to shoot women isn't one of those things. When I watched the video clip, I was surprised that those men were willing to be interviewed on TV. One even said it "Got him going."

My word, are they so lost to decency?

A couple of observations from watching the video of this story:

The reporter stating that the paintballs travel 200mph is wrong. Paintballs typically have a muzzle velocity of 250 - 300 fps (FEET per second). Even if they have the guns turned down to 200fps it is still too fast for targets with no/insufficient eye and face protection.

The shooter has an optical red-dot sight on the paintgun. Even tournament players sight down the barrel on paintguns at the ranges portrayed in the video. They are really making it easy for the "hunter"

I'd find it only sporting if the hunting were mutual, i.e. I hunt you while you hunt me. (In this example 'I' and 'You' being generic generalizations.)
