The crew is just sprinting to their places on the ship to salute the United States of America!

What a fantastic ceremony!

just saw "The Day Reagan was Shot" yesterday a movie by Oliver Stone...the scenes with Reagan and Nancy in the hospital were great, brings tears to my eyes. Good movie. May God bless the Reagans.

I have tears streaming down my face right now -- my daughter is in the USS Navy serving with VS-41 at North Island where President Bush took off for the USS Lincoln in a plane from their sister squadron.

Flyby!

Newport News, I believe.

Just had a flyby of two F-14's and two F-18's.

No, they are in Norfolk, Newport News is across the bride where the ship was built. Norfolk is where the actual base is.

The ship is manned and ready report to the Commander. And now the Captain of the ship reported that the ship is manned and ready to the Admiral.

Flag of the Vice President of the United States breaking and being hoisted, and now the flag of the Captain of the Ship! VP Cheney's flag raised.

The USS Reagan will be heading to berth in San Diego (Coronado). One more carrier in this class to be built -- USS George Herbert Walker Bush.

No problem at all, I've heard many newscasters say the base is in Newport News - no wonder many people are confussed.

I really REALLY wish I could be there for this. Nothing like having f-14's buzz over your head... :-))

Fastest ship in the Fleet! Fifty year life to this carrier! Support/supply ships cannot move as fast! Connie commisioned in 1961 burns fuel and they have to stop to refuel. This is why it was decommissioned early.

One thing I've always wanted to do is look up the meanings of the dozens of flags our naval ships hoist and change out during various events etc.

We lived off of Sandbridge road for a while then moved into Norfolk close to Little Creek.

It was so strange when we first moved to Florida - no planes serenading me to sleep at night!!! :-))

And yea, I've heard more then a few news programs make the mistake, including Fox yesterday.
