What a flubbed up comment from Sen. Warner, twisting the prayer of the Navy Hymn as if it were a prayer to women (i.e., Nancy Reagan) rather than a prayer to God!

Senator Warner: Got life?

Correct. It was a disjointed speech, and his references to Nancy must have embarrassed her no end. It did me. Warner has a great delivery, but his thought processes are getting a little reflective of senility.

I didn't hear it mentioned yet, but the Reagan is the second to last Nimitz class vessel.

Can you imagine a USS Bill Clinton?

Never.

Well, maybe...

...but it would have to be a submarine - hard and full of seamen!

I wonder if any of President Reagan's children showed up for this great honor.

I know Maureen is there in spirit. She adored her Dad.

Thanks for adding those pictures!

What a ceremony this has been so far -- so glad that Nancy Reagan is there today!

The Chaplain of the USS Reagan's prayer even included how Pres Reagan grew the economy of California!

What a great tribute to President Ronald and Nancy Reagan. I had tears in my eyes when Senator Warner talked about how this carrier is Nancy's carrier.

President Cheney's speech was wonderful -- he was the right man to make this speech today.

The Ronald Reagan has now been placed in commission -- May God bless this ship and her crew and the greatest nation in the world, the United States of America -- by Acting Secretary of the Navy.

The colors of the USS Ronald Reagan are now being hoisted!

The naval secretary just officially commisioned her. The colors were just hoisted above the island.

They said earlier his family was there -- I am sure Michael Reagan is there!

*pained look* we already have a submarine named after Jimmy Carter, we DON'T need a submarine named after Clinton.

Anybody know if Fox or anyone will replay this later? I'd love to tape it for my fellow Reagan enthusiast friends!

Chief of Naval Operations speaking -- this is the 9th Nimitz Carrier placed in operation. Thanking Nancy Reagan for being there today and the charge to the crew she gave.

The Navy loves the Reagans!

Very pleased to serve under leaders like you Vice President Cheney and President Bush.

Senator Warner was a sailor in WWII. He was also a Marine in the Korean War. He is former Secretary of the Navy. Represent so many in the Congress that are committed to today's military to make it ready. (paraphrased)

But wouldn't the bend in it make it go in circles? ;-)

That still irks me, especially since his name's on one of the few Seawolfs we've got out there (most of the Seawolf budget was transfered to the newer and more versatile Virginia class).
