Where is the apology for slavery? (Derrick Z. Wants an Apology From the Crackers)
Boston Globe ^ | 7-11-03 | Derrick Z. Jackson

HERE IS a simple reason American presidents will not apologize for slavery. An apology for the past means asking white Americans to take responsibility for the present. One hundred and forty years after the Emancipation Proclamation, that remains a task too heavy for presidents to perform. The truth remains too terrible for Americans to bear.

And *I* want an apology for how my family was treated when they fled Ireland during the Potato Famine. Signs all over this country proclaimed "NO IRISH" were allowed in their stores, schools, restaurants, and churches.

"I wonder how he feels about slavery in Africa today?Africans enslaving Africans?"

EXACTLY!

Why is this well known fact always left out when these morons start blaming Whitey for all slavery?

It makes people feel good to think their ancestors were caught in nets hidden in trees by white people. It's not very heartening to know your ancestors were given up in a battle to another tribe to keep peace and later sold for trinkets to a Muslim slave trader. The reason whe chose Africans for slaves was because they were used to it.

I refuse to apologize for something I didn't do.

If my ancestors owned any slaves, which research indicates they did not (being poor-as-dirt Irishmen), it's up to them to apologize to those they harmed.

Africans did not hate slavery in Africa because it was part of the culture. They hated being taken from their homeland.

I agree--George W. Bush should apologize to every slave he has ever owned.

I smell a lawsuit... as soon as the apology is issued, the lawsuits will start!

DING, DING, DING! We have a winner! You've caught onto the game.

The reason why neither Clinton or Bush issued an apology, is because an apology is an acknowledgement of responsibility. If the PRESENT DAY government of the US issues an apology, the next step is a lawsuit in the World Court to get reparations.

...But they know slavery will not return in America...

Oh, it has, but it is a sneakier sort, that lets people believe they are free, but takes their money to support the ever growing herd of freeloaders and losers and forces their children to the back of the bus in favor of "diversity."

To Black Racists like Derrick Z. Jackson, I say bloody well bugger off. Its a tragedy his people were sold into slavery and brought here but I'm damned well not going to apologize for something I had no part in nor should President Bush on behalf of white Americans alive today. An apology is the least of what Black Racists want. They want to keep the division between the races alive forever. After all they profit from the permanent prolongation of ancient grievances. Screw 'em.

An apology for the past means asking white Americans to take responsibility for the present.

That's pretty racist, right there.

Dear Derek,

I'm a white American. I never owned a slave. My parents, grandparents or great grandparents never owned a slave. Therefore I dont "owe" an apology to anyone. Get it?

Get over yourself and quit blaming whitey for supposed "injustices".

Get over yourself. There is already PLENTY of apology. Look at certain things like affirmative action and admissions policy in colleges (recently in the headlines!) Look at things in those schools like the Black Student Union. How about the Black Patrolmans League (an orgininzation for BLACK police officers) or the Black Senators Caucus (for BLACK senators) or the Black Miss America?

All of those orginizations plus many many more offer memberships and opportunities exclusively for black people.

What kind of of uproar do you think there would be if some group offered stuff exclusively for WHITE people? It'd be racism. Well, it's racism now. In favor of blacks.

And there are no apologies being made for it.

Bump! And the thing is Jackson wants Blacks to remain on the Liberal Plantation as eternal victims of Da Man. God forbid they should start thinking for themselves to get ahead and succeed in this country.
