Where is the apology for slavery? (Derrick Z. Wants an Apology From the Crackers)

HERE IS a simple reason American presidents will not apologize for slavery. An apology for the past means asking white Americans to take responsibility for the present. One hundred and forty years after the Emancipation Proclamation, that remains a task too heavy for presidents to perform. The truth remains too terrible for Americans to bear.

My ancestors came to America in the late 1800s, after the Civil war. I suppose 6000 years ago or so, I may be related distantly to someone who owned a slave in Europe, but It's been at least 1000 years and more likely much much longer. What's the statute of limitations on the sins of the great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great(repeat another 500+ times) grandfather anyway?

Check out this thread re: reparations. We have word of two independent James Gang descendants. The James Gang stole my great grandmother's plow horses. There's more fun family history but I haven't cleared it with my source.

The horse thievery took place in South Dakota, home of arch rival Tommy Daschle. All is forgiven except for Daschle. We must support John Thune and vote Daschle out of office.

My GGF Magnus Johnson was one of the first eastern SD Republicans over a hundred years ago. If he were alive today, he'd give Daschle a run for his money.

Just as it was Branch Rickey who broke the color barrier in MLB before steroids.

Just as it was LBJ who got the civil rights act into law before and after matin luther king.

That's not totally accurate. We have to look at how slavery was viewed by both the African and the European. The African had POW's that they kept as prisoners. First of all their "slavery" as you called it, was prison. You got a time that you were going to let free and you could even work your way out sooner. Their was no lynchings, no raping of women, no splitting families up, no destroying cultures, no moving groups of people from one land to an entirely different land(continent), no cutting of of limbs(feet, hands and such). Like I said before I can go on and on but it's not my job to educate, damn cats are literate(i hope). And the POW's were just like the prisoners of the North getting caught by the Prisoners of the South in the Civil War--they both were from the United States but they were on two different sides of combat so that wasn't like the enslavement the Europeans perfected. Some may but I no means feel reperations means getting some money, forget your worthless paper money(from the non federal, federal reserve) if it was worth anything you and other counties would not still be raping the natural resources from Africa(oil, diamonds, gold, etc). So before you start running off at the mouth about things you dont understand you may want to check out the dynamics of both situations. And those Africans that were involved in this should've been dealt with by death, but as we believe in Ancient Afrikan spirituality they recieved their punishment, and so will all.

Hers my Apology I'm very sorry you still think your being slaved but your not I'm sorry that my ancestors were slaved being paid wages of bread and water while building railroads for our country but ill bet they were not sorry they came to America as i know I'm not sorry they did

I apologize for your ancestors selling you into slavery in Africa so they had to suffer a long trip to America which you hold in such discontent

And let me be the first to offer you a one way ticket to any destination in the Africa's or the India's as long as you don't come back!1

I apologize for being a wheat thin cracker with cheese whiz on top!
I would have started an underground railroad for you so that you could escape from the slavery of the Democratic Party to the "Free Republic" but you're already here!
Welcome to the Free Republic!
