July 10, 2003 -- Kobe Bryant's alleged sex-assault victim is an aspiring chanteuse who drove a thousand miles for a shot at stardom on Fox's blockbuster "American Idol," a friend told The Post yesterday.

Despite being cut from the hit reality show, the alleged victim's a talented pianist and songwriter who hopes to become a music teacher when she graduates college, friends said.

Geez, you're something...You work in a trendy hotel, you have a chance to meet a "superstar." But in your sick world, a young girl instead would say to herself, Hmmm, I can go up there, make believe I was raped and hopefully, if the world believes me without any physical evidence, I'll be a millionaire. Oy Vay.

Mineral Man...When it comes to things like this, sense goes out the window. You're assuming there wasn't alcohol or drugs involved.

It's amazing how everyone immediately takes Kobe's side, isn't it?

I remember when it was frowned upon for a lady to go into a man's apartment, whatever, by herself.

Juanita Broaddrick thought she was meeting the Governor of Arkansas regarding the nursing home business she ran.

As far as I know, this young woman was on the clock. She was working at the time when the alleged call for room service came in.

Blame women's liberation all you want.

I don't care if she was meeting the Pope: It should not be the proper job or behavior for a woman.

However, that is no longer the norm.

Until such again becomes the norm, such he-said/she-said incidents will continue to trouble society: and innocent men will continue to be punished, and guilty men, continue to go free.

In most such cases, might as well toss a coin.

That African tribe had it right: Spend time alone with a man in a hut, and in the eyes of the tribe you are married.

And society should not be troubled by what happens in married relationships, unless either the man or woman wants a divorce.

Once officially divorced, then any altercation between them again becomes the business of the tribe.

You're reading it wrong...What the girl said is BEFORE she knew who it was, she thought it must be a fabrication. Now that she knows it's THIS girl, she believes it.

Kobe was ESCORTED to a hospital for DNA samples by the sheriff's department. He did not return to the hotel but had someone else retrieve his personal items.

I realize that. What I'm wondering is ... if she went to the room and came down 20 minutes later ... did she call the police then? They said Kobe left without checking out in the morning (a lot of people don't check out anyway). But what happened between 10:30 pm and when he went to the hospital?

He may not be right, but that is one way it could have happened!
If she is an entertainer as is suggested by the article, she would be of a flakey nature anyway!

I don't know anything yet. We'll see where this goes, but if she is an entertainer a big red flag goes up for me.

I think I just defined what marriage is: Private.

For better or worse: Private.

Once a woman and man agree to marry, what happens in that relationship should not be the business of society.

That might be a very practical approach.

If the guy beats her, don't come crying to society--you picked him.

Might make a woman think twice before marrying the guy with all the tatoos and the ring though his nose if society won't come bail her out later.

I personally believe that young women should be chaperoned when a fellow calls.
I am also in favor of parents having a greater say in whom their sons and daughters marry.

You're old fashioned. Not necessarily a bad thing but more than I think I personally could handle. And it isn't realistic.

If the woman feels she would be insulting the man's probity or appear paranoid if she objects she needs to grow up. Someone needs to tell her the facts of life. She should learn to either only go to rooms of people she knows or be a better judge of character.

But in this specific case the girl was working at the time. Of course, we really don't know who's telling the truth. But blaming women's lib is silly. Someone committed a crime here ... either Kobe towards an employee of the hotel ... or her in reporting a crime that never happened.

Whoa--I'm not saying that in under our culture's current beliefs this woman's accusations should be ignored.

Unfortunately, under society's current flawed beliefs, there are no longer morals protecting women from such danger and men from such accusations.

Therefore, this case will have to (sigh) run it course through our legal system.

But unless there is some overwhelming evidence, assigning guilt will boil down to a coin toss--however much disguised by legal niceties.

I'll answer for Freedom4US: That would not be the proper job for a woman to begin with.

I have a feeling there is a long, long, long list of jobs you don't think women should have. You need to get out more.

My criticism is not directed towards the young lady or towards the man, as they have been taught a different kind of behavior than I believe people should be taught.

It is the behavior society currently considers acceptable that I criticize.

You are utterly heartless. I suspect you see women as either "good, wholesome, pure" or "sluts". No inbetween.

BTW, if the guy beats her ... isn't he liable at all? (smirk)

Kobe Bryant is a married man.

He has remained silent.

He sought medical attention for his knee without letting his coach or the team doctor know.

It won't matter if she went into his room naked if he touched her in a sexual manner.
