July 10, 2003 -- Kobe Bryant's alleged sex-assault victim is an aspiring chanteuse who drove a thousand miles for a shot at stardom on Fox's blockbuster "American Idol," a friend told The Post yesterday.

Despite being cut from the hit reality show, the alleged victim's a talented pianist and songwriter who hopes to become a music teacher when she graduates college, friends said.

Does anyone else wonder if she called the police immediately? If so, why did Kobe leave the hotel the next morning without law enforcement talking to him first?

s it the fault of women when society refuses to back them up were they to consider being alone with a strange man as dangerous?

Used to be that society would stand behind a woman who refused to be alone with a stranger.

For a man to invite a woman up to his room in those days, would have been the same as saying to the woman hey honey, let's you and me ****.

But nowadays, if it's OK for a man to enter the hotel room of a non-relative, and a stranger at that, then women are supposed to have the same freedom.

This is another result of women's liberation.

---------------------

I don't think it's a result of women's liberation.

I don't care whether you are a man or woman, or whether the person you are visiting is a friend, family or a stranger; but courteous behavior is expected. and, no, inviting someone to your room does not mean "let's f***".

People (men and women) should be careful of who they invite to their rooms. Kobe should have realized he may have been a target.

But lawsuits are the order of the day. In fact, as of about 20 years ago, doctors no longer examine women without another woman in the room. Too many lawsuits.

I read it. She could still be black with a blond wig.

In this scenario, both parties are guilty of poor judgement, and neither is guilty of intentionally victimizing the other.

Shorthand: they're human. Thanks for the compliment, by the way. I'm quick to admit, however, that I'm human too. I'm often wrong, but never in doubt. 7;^)

Kobe was ESCORTED to a hospital for DNA samples by the sheriff's department. He did not return to the hotel but had someone else retrieve his personal items.

If I was a betting man, though, I'm betting on Bryant.

If I was a millionaire I would be rich.

I remember when it was frowned upon for a lady to go into a man's apartment, whatever, by herself.

Juanita Broaddrick thought she was meeting the Governor of Arkansas regarding the nursing home business she ran.

As far as I know, this young woman was on the clock. She was working at the time when the alleged call for room service came in.

Blame women's liberation all you want.

A bachelor does not ask a young woman to visit his apartment alone late at night unless he does not care about her reputation - or suspects that she does not care about it either. That's how things used to be done, anyway. Why the anonymity afforded our young lady now? Women are, after all, now the very equal of men. Or not? Or just, sometimes?

How do you equate that to a hotel concierge being called for room service?

"The fact that she was a contestant on American Idol destroys any credibility she might have had".

What????

In this day and age, talented people audition on TV to help their careers. No talent scouts or potential employers will see them performing in barns in Podunkville, Iowa like Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland did in countless old movies.

inviting someone to your room does not mean "let's f***".

That is the problem: We have been told over and over that it no longer does, and so people go around thinking it no longer does.

So that now, should a man invite a woman to his room--rather than the man feeling he is out of line, the woman feels she would be insulting the man's probity or appear paranoid should she object.

Should we someday be told over and over that "let's f***" no longer means "let's f***", then people will go around thinking that no longer means it either.

I personally believe that young women should be chaperoned when a fellow calls.

I am also in favor of parents having a greater say in whom their sons and daughters marry.

And the younger the man or woman, the more I believe these things apply.

I'll answer for Freedom4US: That would not be the proper job for a woman to begin with.

And that is the basic problem.

If they were self-inflicted, why would he abruptly leave the hotel? And why would one of HIS friends go to the hospital?
