News Advisory:
-- Randall Terry, Founder of Operation Rescue, to Hold Press Conference at National Organization for Women's National Convention to Announce Two Events to Oppose the NOW's Agenda
On Friday, July 11, at 10 a.m., Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, will hold a press conference at the DoubleTree Hotel Crystal City, in the Windows Over Washington room (the hotel in which the NOW is concurrently holding their national convention). At the press conference Terry will outline his organization's plans to oppose the agenda of the National Organization for Women.
At the press conference Terry will outline two nationwide efforts to oppose the NOW's agenda. Also at the press conference Terry will provide to the press copies of a letter his organization just mailed to over 60,000 activists calling on them to participate in these two projects.
Terry founded Operation Rescue in 1986. He has spent over one year incarcerated in various prisons and jails for peaceful protest against abortion. Terry has fought extensively against "homosexual marriage" in Hawaii and Vermont.
In 1988 the NOW began suing Terry in various state and federal courts. They sued him in over 2 dozen jurisdictions. After nearly 15 years of litigation, the NOW bankrupted Terry and took nearly $200,000 of his personal assets.
The NOW has boasted that they were rid of Terry.
Randall Terry states:
"The NOW's agenda for the killing of children by abortion and the promoting 'homosexual marriage' are crimes against God and humanity. The NOW's perverse agenda is an affront to the Judeo Christian values embraced by the majority of Americans."
"We will oppose the NOW's twisted agenda on a national scale."
"I have two simple words for the National Organization for Women: I'M BACK."

Mr. Terry should hold a press conference on why the Bible doesn't allow remarriage after a divorce!
(I'm a former member of OR who worked with Mr. Terry on a few occassions.)
To: All
The former President disembarks from his airplane after a trip back to Arkansas. Although the hoopla is less now that he is out of office, Clinton still occasionally finds himself greeted by military personnel. This is one such occasion. He climbs down the stairs, carrying two huge pigs, one under each arm. He gets to the bottom, and nods his head in return to the soldier's salute. "Son, what do you think about these?" he says. "Nice pigs, SIR!" comes the reply. Clinton gets mildly miffed and lectures, "I'll have you know these aren't just pigs but the finest of Arkansas Razorbacks. Top notch. I got one for Hillary, and one for Chelsea. What do you think about that?" "Nice trade, SIR! |

Terry and NOW deserve each other.

I'm sure the media will focus more attention on OR than on NOW just as they focus more attention on NOW and other anti-Republican groups when they protest at the GOP conventions.

Mr. Terry has balls big enough to fertilize every dried-up harridan at the NOW conference. I admire that.

interesting - personal attacks on a man with morals that has been leading the battle to SAVE babies??
There seems to be more and more of this leftists trash talk on freerepoublic lately.
It appears that the left is winning from the tone of remarks from "conservatives"

Mr. Terry should hold a press conference on why the Bible doesn't allow remarriage after a divorce! I've heard that. What's the reference?

Randall Terry was the worst thing to ever happen to the pro-life movement. The pro-life movement has gained significant ground in the polls ever since Randall Terry and Operation Rescue disappeared.
Americans tend to sympathize with the underdog. The problem is that when many Americans turn on their television and see some male yelling at a much smaller woman in front of an abortion clinic, they will have sympathy for the woman. Also, Operation Rescue often seemed to think if they could convince someone that the Bible stated abortion was wrong, then they've won the argument. The fact is that most Americans aren't fundamentalist Christians, so a Biblical argument only preaches to the choir.
Since then, the pro-life movement has emphasized the suffering of a child who is aborted late in the pregnancy. The underdog is thus no longer the woman at the clinic, but the child in the womb.

I disagree. He helped bring it to a national level. The problem was that his theology was all wrong. He didn't know how to meet the world where it was at. Instead he turned people off by bible thumping.

And ... a person who notifies the networks that he's holding a press conference in direct and immediate opposition to an already flagging organization, and announces 'he's back' ... well, it will remain to be seen whom he is promoting and in whose interest he is trying to get the spotlight focused upon him.

Well, he tried "coming back" before but it didn't really go anywhere.
His influence amongst his former peers has waned. His scandelous divorce and remarriage really hurt his reputation. Some won't work with him at all anymore.
To: chance33_98
NOW is already "dead". They get less money in a year than VP Cheney or the NRA can raise in an hour. Americans are no longer pro-abortion, and their wallets reflect that fact.

personal attacks on a man with morals that has been leading the battle to SAVE babies?? Amazing, isn't it? Randall Terry has been pummelled from the left and the right. It's a wonder he can still stomach to be around any of us.

I meant, what's the reference in the Bible about not remarrying? Give it up. The holier-than-thou types will eat you for lunch. It's hopeless. Randall Terry gave everything he had to give to the pro life movement and they turned on him. We all make mistakes.

The holier-than-thou types will eat you for lunch. They'll die of diarrhea. Dammit, if somebody makes a statement like that, they ought to be able to back it up with scripture, or at least the churches interpretation of some scripture.
