I was a great fan of Ann's but have had cause to reconsider, and not just because of this piece I have pointed out to you.

Joel Kovel, who holds the prestigious "Alger Hiss Professor of Social Studies" chair at Bard College . . . Kovel published a book describing anti-communism as a psychiatric condition.

This guy is dangerous. The Soviets used the diagnosis of "sluggish schizophrenia" to consign those opposed to communism to mental hospitals. What parent in their right mind would pay to send their kids to Bard?

And what is up with Leon Botstein, the president of Bard? He is one of the few sane liberals left. Or he was. Botstein is the only lefty I know of who has ever made a proposal for education reform which didn't include more money and more time in school--he wants to cut two years off K-12.

"People who have dedicated their lives to exposing lesbian imagery in "Moby-Dick" are more prevalent on the nation's campuses than serious scholars."

I wonder if Coulter was joking when she wrote this.

My freshman year at Haverford College back in 1984, the entire freshman class was required to attend a lecture on feminist themes in "Moby Dick." The professor explained that when the men had to go down to the water to hunt the whale. Since the ocean was a metaphor for femininity, they were getting in touch with their female side.

Columbia history professor Eric Foner claimed Radosh's book on the Rosenbergs violated the canons of historical scholarship.

Foner is not exactly unbiased on the matter of communism as he was a red-diaper baby... father was Philip Foner.

"I criticized labor historians for their devotion to Marx and their admiration of such Marxist historians as Philip Foner, Herbert Aptheker, and Eric Hobsbawm. Marx’s theories are wicked and wrong, said I, and Foner’s, Aptheker’s, and Hobsbawm’s “scholarship” is irreparably marred by their communism.

Foner’s multi-volume “History of the Labor Movement in the United States,” for example, is predictable and sectarian. He demonstrates little understanding of workers or of capitalism, and attacks all other historians who are not sufficiently supportive of Soviet communism. Foner was also a plagiarist and may even have destroyed historical documents to prevent other researchers from viewing them."

Also this...

Philip Foner, author of "Karl Marx Remembered", had this to say,

"I am confident that when the 200th anniversary of the death of Karl Marx will be observed, the entire world will be socialist."

I'm trying to do a little "transactional analysis" here. I think that Ann Coulter wanted to write a book that "exposed" liberals as the catspaws of America's enemies. I believe that she wanted to distinguish her book from books on the same general subject (e.g. "Useful Idiots"; "Radical Son"), and she wanted a snappy, one word title to remind readers of her best seller, "Slander". But why did she have to throw the "T" word around? No, I don't believe that JFK was a traitor, and I don't believe that the DNC was being run by the Politburo. And why, in the name of all that's Holy, did she have to defend a loud-mouthed alcoholic like McCarthy?

Florence King's father used to say that colleges existed to provide employment for men who couldn't make a living with their hands or their heads.

True blacklisting occurs only when someone scowls at a liberal.

In her own unique & discriminating way, Ann highlights the hypocrisy, and fear-of-truth, that possesses that ghoulish entity known as a liberal.

Even a hint of the blacklist must never again be tolerated

Absence of blacklist does not guarantee absence of backlash.

Wouldn't you like to go back to your Academic "Seat of Learning" & REQUIRE the "so-called-professors" to READ the well-researched History we all studied & REQUIRE them to explain LOGICALLY WHY THEIR interpretation of "the Past" is SO MUCH at "Variance" with the understanding AND DIRECT EXPERIENCE of hundreds of thousands of us who repudiate their understanding of our History.

I DO NOT BELIEVE that those who teach our children "History" can "Reconcile" their Ideologically Driven "Pseudo-Facts" with ACTUAL HISTORICAL FACT!

There is an actual CRISIS here--Historical Fact conflicts with "Ideology!"

We OUGHT TO go to our "schools" & CONFRONT those who would teach our Children myths.

WE were the "Good Guys" in ALL conflicts over the past 100 years; it isn't up to us to prove we were "In the Right,"--It's up to our "adversaries" to prove we were Wrong!!

If we were SO "Wrong" over the past century, WHY are people STILL risking their lives to come here??

If we're SO BAD, why aren't people from other countries trying to get into CHAD, or Belgium, of France, or Russia, or Iran, or South Africa, or China, or Russia, etc--etc--etc--!

SORRY to disappoint the "Good Guys," but "America" is where EVERYONE ELSE in our benighted world wants to go.

Perhaps Those who believe America is SO AWEFUL ought to find out WHY EVERYONE ELSE on the Planet wants to come here to prosper!

It's TIME we taught our children what's SO SPECIAL about America--& WHY the rest of the World want's to come here!

EVEN IF our children cannot recite our universal History (something ALL PREVIOUS AMERICAN GENERATIONS were taught), our Citizens are given a unique "perspective" on our world which tells them that "America" is SPECIAL!

ALL Americans understand that Their "Citizenship" renders them "Special!"

Doc

More kryptonite for the Uebermenschen of the left. Ann Coulter is almost as effective as the American flag and the Ten Commandments for setting off their internal adrenalin alert alarms, and the resulting meltdown of their central nervous systems.

And yet they look forward to the turmoil.

One historian told Judis: "I wouldn't hire a red-baiter like Ron." Another said Radosh was "not a historian at all."
Journalists peck at any conservative in exactly the same "not a journalist" way.

Any Tom, Dick, or Harry can set up a printing press (you have a low-speed one hooked to your computer, probably--and you have the ability to post to a web site which is accessible world wide) and become a journalist to his heart's content. But if Harry is a conservative, Tom and Dick will wage a flame war on him for "pretending" to a title which they themselves have no official sanction for holding, never mind excluding others from.

I used to be annoyed at Rush Limbaugh for ceding the point unnecessarily. But I have concluded taht the logical viewpoint to take is to let them have the word, and ridicule "journalists" as a group. It at least gives us a convenient target . . .

This article covers material also seen in Treason, in which Ann makes the point that historians treat journalism as "the first draft of history." And that that is exactly how "McCarthyism" entered history--historians reading the newspapers rather than going to the primary sources for the real story.

"Historian" is therefore a term of contempt like "journalist"--anyone who figures out and publishes a liberty-affirming truth is "not a historian (or journalist) at all."

Why Broadcast Journalism Is Unnecessary and Illegitimate

So, according to liberals, we have to buy their garbage or they're being censored?

From this idiocy we can assume Hollywood is censoring us if they don't support FreeRepublic? OK, Dixie Chicks, pay up.
