Dawa in public schools [How to convert students to Islam]

Dawa in public schools

Definition of Dawa

Dawa means to invite non-Muslims to accept the truth of Islam. Performing Dawa involves both our words and actions.

Importance of Dawa in Islam

The Quran and the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) give numerous references on the importance and the obligations of Dawa. The prophetic life of the Prophet involved spreading the message of Islam. Dawa is also reflected in the lives of the Sahabas (the Companions of the Prophet). Now the responsibility of spreading the message of Islam rests on our shoulders.

"Invite all to the way of your Lord with Wisdom and beautiful Preaching" (Quran 16:125)

"you are made witnesses unto mankind" (Quran 2:143)

"Let there arise a group inviting to all that is good" (Quran 3:104)

Provided below would be some practical suggestions that Muslim students as individuals and as a group should undertake to accomplish the above-mentioned goal.

Students: receptive to new ideas

Students are routinely exposed in their classroom to new information and opinions, hence they tend to be more receptive to new beliefs and ideas.

Schools are therefore fertile grounds where the seeds of Islam can be sowed inside the hearts of non-Muslim students. Muslim students should take ample advantage of this opportunity and present to their schoolmates the beautiful beliefs of Islam.

Getting started

First and foremost the Muslim students should establish themselves into a Muslim group (Muslim Students Association, Islamic Circle, Quran Study Group etc.) if they haven't yet instituted one.

Hey dawa works both ways.

Get ready, Muslim.

Jesus has a plan for your life.

It can be done - carefully.

And it depends on where you live.

Indeed. The words are usually, "Accept Allah or we'll shoot you in the head." And the action is usually a severe beating before the words.

If this is happening on school property then where's the ACLU complaining about the separation of mosque and state?

How come we have muslims in public schools trying to proselytize American children to Islam, but doing the same thing in the middle east gets you killed?

This is an outrageous double standard?

Where are the outraged parents of these children?

If Muslim proselytizing is allowed to continue then there will be SOME children that will buy into the Muslim propaganda, and turn against their own. That's the tragedy of permitting this type of proselytizing to go on. These children then grow up as heathens, have little prospects for a decent future, and would most likely be on an FBI Watch List for life.

It's time for our Christian ministers to do some proselytizing of their own.

What you need is a test case. This article talks about the processes for proseltyzing Islam in the public schools. Find an instance when it has actually happened, and then contact the ACLU to ask for their help in stopping it.

Note, however, that the examples given are student-to-student contact. The ACLU has usually (but not always) gotten involved in teacher- (or administration-)to-student instruction or example.

Hey, Thomas Jefferson never said anything about "separation of mosque and state"!

I wouldn't be suprised to see that in a position paper from the ACLU!

I just read the full article. You know, if you substitute "Christian" or "Jewish" for "Islam" in that article, it's a great guide for proponents of those religions as well. There's some very sensible advice in there.

Funny, no proud proclamations about how Jesus will be a Muslim at his second coming...
and will kill all the Christians who fail to convert to the one true religion.
Yes, that would be "the religion of peace".

I've got to give it to the Islamics. "Religion of Peace" has about as much
comedic irony as "Arbeit Macht Frei".

Actually, it's not very different from what Christian groups do in the schools in my district.

Over the years, I've helped a number of Christian students organize Bible study groups. They can hold study meetings and prayer meetings (on school property), announce their activities in flyers and post them on school bulletin boards, etc. They can invite everybody, including non-Christians to come. As long as they follow the same rules as other extra-curricular groups, and do not disrupt classroom activities, it is entirely legal for them to do these things.

The Supreme Court has even ruled recently that OUTSIDE groups (not student led groups) can conduct evangelizing activities on public school property. I do not remember the name of the case, but if you go to Jay Sekulow's ACLJ site you can find this case and many others setting out how religious activities can legally be conducted on school grounds. Sekulow's group has been very active in making sure Christians are able to exercise their rights in the schools.

If the Muslims assert those rights, and follow the same rules, I don't see how you can prevent them from doing so. It's all very well to say that Christians wouldn't be able to evangelize in Pakistan, but isn't that why we live in the US, not Pakistan? If w e start saying, Christians (or Jews, or Mormons, or .... ) can do it, but not Muslims, then we might as well be living in a mirror image of Pakistan.

Actually reading the Koran is one of the best defenses against it.

One of the problems with reading the Koran is the English translations were made by sympathetic translators who whitewashed and generally re-wrote anything that wasn't politically correct.

For a good literal translation see Houque.
