Actor Pleads No Contest to Porn Charge

LOS ANGELES - Actor Jeffrey Jones (news), who played the high school principal in the 1980s comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," pleaded no contest Tuesday to a felony charge of employing a 14-year-old boy to pose for sexually explicit photos.

Jones was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to register as a sex offender and undergo counseling.

A misdemeanor charge of possession or control of child pornography was dropped.

"I'm sorry that this incident was allowed to occur. Such an event has never happened before and it will never happen again," Jones said outside court. The 56-year-old actor also appeared in the films "Beetlejuice" and "Sleepy Hollow" and was Emperor Joseph II in 1984's "Amadeus."

Jones had been free on $20,000 bond. He was arrested Nov. 14 after a 12-month investigation that also resulted in the arrest of actor Paul Reubens (news), who is best known for the character Pee-wee Herman.

Reubens, 50, who is free on $20,000 bail, has pleaded innocent to one misdemeanor count of possessing material depicting children under 18 engaging in sexual conduct.

The charge, which carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $2,500 fine, resulted from a search of Reubens' home in November 2001. Police seized his art collection and personal computers.

Yeah, but this is why it bothers me.

The charge was dropped.

In the future, it is found that he does possess these same materials.

And, they cannot cite the evidence from the first trial, which dealt with the first possession.

I understand about plea bargaining, but it is irksome, sometimes.

I worked on that fagots house about 15 years ago, what a creep!

I hope they give him the year in jail and $2,500 fine, wish it was 20 years and a million fine!

Pardon me, but you go to movies?

Why?

I wait for the reviews from my friends, and the buy the DVD's for the really good ones.

Like "The Patriot."

My wife bought me a copy of "The quiet Man" - my favorite.

Why in the heck would I sit in a movie theatre?

Went to see Auhnold in Terminator 3 . . . my opinion . . . great flick. Anyway they show the previews of the next Clint Eastwood (Directed/Produced) Movie (based on a true story). I like Eastwood, but this movie will star Sean Penn . . . no way Jose! I won't put money in that traitors pockets.

My guess is that Penn was hired for this movie before any of his Iraq-capades.

Read the article. He got five.

Five years probation, (formal or informal) is definitely not five years in the joint!

And I'd bet you dollars to doughnots it's informal probation...meaning; just don't do it again.

(from Eonline)

The judge also barred Jones from possessing kiddie porn and advised him to notify his parole officer if he plans to travel outside California.

Jones spoke outside the court, saying, "This concludes a really painful chapter in my life. I'm sorry that this incident was allowed to occur. Such an event has never happened before, and it will never happen again."

The actor was arrested last November following a yearlong investigation prompted by an unidentified teenager's allegations to authorities that Jones used him for "alleged criminal acts of a sexual nature," according to the LAPD.

Jones, who has remained free on $20,000 bail since his arrest, had, until recently, maintained his innocence, entering a not guilty plea in January to the charge of "using a minor for prohibitive acts" and a misdemeanor count of possessing child pornography.

As a result of his plea Tuesday, the misdemeanor charge of possession or control of child pornography was dropped.

Authorities have asserted that the charges against Jones did not involve any sex acts.

"He's not accused of touching or having physical contact with any minors whatsoever. He didn't do anything of that nature," one of Jones' attorneys, Leonard Levine, told reporters.

Regardless, his client "will follow the law" and register as an offender said Levine, adding, "these laws are very encompassing and they bring in a lot of people who, obviously, we feel are no more danger to society than you or I. But he will comply with the law, and he will move on with his life."

Prosecutors announced they were pleased with a sentence they believed to be "fair and equitable," said Jane Robison of the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. "What we thought was of greater importance is that he's going to have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life."

Jeff Jones nearly saved "Howard the Duck", a mighty acting feat indeed. 56 is too old to not be aware of what's right and what's not. Hanging with the nihilist crowd will do you in every time. Morals are not expendable. Shades of Pete Townsend man; at least police your hard-drive!

Very disappointed Eastwood is pushing Penn. Nary a cent. If Clint and Ahnold are compromised and John Wayne remains dead what chance have we against the wave of rot?

Dunno?

I was raised going to the "big screen" and it was my 76 year old mother that wanted to see Terminator 3! I will concede that movie theatres (along with society in general) have deteriorated. However, for the last 10+ years we go to the 11AM Sat. matinee ($5.50), always sit in the back row (nobody behind you) at the local "stadium theatre" (awesome sound and visual). This strategy works so far . . . perhaps one day I'll drop 10 grand and get a real home entertainment system. Good talking to you General! ;^)

BTW, one of my wife's favorite movies is "The Quiet Man" (one of about 500 VHS/DVDs in our collection). For me? It's "Ben Hur" . . . sure wish they would digitally restore that one (a la Lawrence of Arabia) and put it on the "big silver".

...said Jane Robison of the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. "What we thought was of greater importance is that he's going to have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life."

Robison knows what every sex offender in California knows, namely, that he can go where he wants, never register and nobody's coming after him. California cannot keep track of its sex offenders. If Hollywood slipped into the ocean, that might change.

One scene I recall fondly is Tim Thomerson's character "Jack Deth" exploring the sunken ruins of "Lost Angeles" in the movie "Trancers". Then again, I was for Lex Luthor's idea of actively knocking the plate off to enrich desert real-estate in "Superman".

These actors bring laughter and entertainment to our lives one day and the next day are showing their true selves. After Operation Iraqi Freedom, I'm losing count of how many whose movies I will not go to.

Went to see Auhnold in Terminator 3 . . .

Now, there's some irony.

If Arnold runs for Governor of CA and the Democrats don't give you a gut-churning expose of his true self, it will only be because they don't don't want to reveal the true self of his Kennedy wife.

WHY was this dropped?

Might as well ask why a certain former pro football player got away with killing his ex-wife and her boyfriend.

Sort of like your "irony" analysis . . . Democrats giving a "true self" analysis of a Republican.

Hey Sabor, Davis' press secretary (Begliosa) was on Mark Larson 870 KRLA this AM and said "the govenor is an honest man". Will he be one of the democrats talking about Auhnolds true self?
