Red Lion Manager Loses Job After Pulling Welcome Mat From Petersons
The Modesto hotel manager who helped search efforts for Laci Peterson has been forced from his job.
Brad Saltzman said the Red Lion Hotel told him to resign or be fired after he told Scott Peterson's parents they should find accommodations elsewhere.
Saltzman said he decided to pull the welcome mat after he heard Scott Peterson's father, Lee, on television accuse Laci's mother Sharon Rocha of burglarizing her daughter's house. Before that, Saltzman had tried to make the Petersons feel welcome by giving them discounted rates while they were in town looking for Laci Peterson.
"I just couldn't rent Lee a room," said Saltzman. "I just couldn't be in that hotel and be the presiding general manager and have Lee Peterson staying there."
After he discussed his decision publicly, hotel managers called him to the home office in Kansas. The vice president and CEO of the company met with him and had his check ready. He chose to resign. Saltzman says he doesn't regret his decision.
"I've always been a 'yes' man. And for once in my life I stood up for what I believe in and it feels so good, I can't even begin to tell you," said Saltzman.
Two other hotel companies have asked him to interview with them.

I wish my name was Marriott or Hyatt, he would have a job in a NY minute. He will probably have one in about the same time anyway. Good.

Scott Peterson's father, Lee, on television accused Laci's mother Sharon Rocha of burglarizing her daughter's house. Lee, your son killed Laci and Conner, so, eat it.

Sometimes you have to pay it, and it's worth it. Sometimes the price of NOT paying is that you can never look at yourself in a mirror again without being ashamed.
He did the right thing.

But 2 job offers immediately isn't much of a price!
And ... I'm not saying a price or not a price is good. What I'm saying is sometimes when you do the right thing - the price is actually a reward. In this case, he has his choice of 2 new positions; just for doing the right thing.

Lee Peterson never killed anybody, and for all we know, neither did Scott. This guy should be fired. I think it is very difficult being a parent of someone who is accused of murder, and this guy is not helping at all.

I'm with you. He has a job to do, and he let his personal feelings get in the way of his job.
Did he use good judgement in telling Peterson to "find accomodations elsewhere"? No. He made the company look bad after first having made it look good. He took his personal grudge and used the company to make a personal and public and political statement.
It's not Red Lion's fault he's a yes man. That's his own self. It's good that he's cracking his shell, but the man absolutely should have been fired.

Wow. I hope that when the defining moment of my life comes, it's something a little more...

I think it is very difficult being a parent of someone who is accused of murder, and this guy is not helping at all. What about how difficult it is to be a parent of a murdered daughter and grandson; and to be accused of breaking into your murdered daughter's home to get some of her and her son's belongings?? And Lee sure isn't making that any easier, is he??
