I agree. It is a marvelous book. Like any human Senator McCarthy had some flaws, and Ann chooses not to dwell on those flaws. There's nothing wrong with that -- he's been criticized quite enough. Ann focuses on the fact that McCarthy was doing the right thing and she's got plenty of facts backing up the concept that McCarthy was doing the right thing.

I consider him an American hero. He wouldn't be the first flawed hero in the world.
