I grew up with a kid who was constantly torturing cats and kittens, setting them on fire, hanging them off telephone poles by a jack knife through the tail, blowing them up with cherry bombs, etc.
We smaller, younger kids were petrified of him.
He had a long and honorable career in the local fire department and is now retired.
My skin still crawls just thinking about him...

And the Columbine kids and every other crazy shooter has turned out otherwise.

I remember hearing older boys *talk* about torturing cats & then throwing them over the house. I never saw this & do not know for sure if they really did it but I remember being frightned of them too.

When I was in High School in Ohio, I was the photography dark room partner with a guy who would kill animals, skin them, bleach their bones, and photograph their skulls on sticks in his backyard.
He was eventually murdered in a prison bathroom while he was serving several life sentences for murdering and eating 17 young gay men.
