"Mentally ill" is a convenient term. Our government today uses that term to describe a multitude of conditions, which allow people to go through life not really taking responsibilty for their lives.
Have you ever seen a psychaitric facility, or been "interviewed" by a psychiatrist? Have you looked at how they classify, and group, alleged illnesses? Are you familiar with their handbook for diagnosis?
Psychiatry is NOT A SCIENCE. It is probably only one level above podiatrists and chiropractics. It may even be one or two levels below them, in its exactitiude. It is very subjective. Of course a psychiatrist would deny these statements as BS.
I have lyme disease. I was placed into a psychiactric ward, when found wandering incoherently in the woods.
My body temp was 93.9, pulse 35-40, and low BP.
It was Christmas, 1994. (taken to hosp on Dec 21.).
Due to the holiday, it was several days before I was actually seen by a psychiatrist. By the time I saw her, I was stabilized and rational.
She talked with me for about 15 minutes, and decided that I had had a bad reaction to Cocaine.
I have never taken cocaine.
She described some psychotropic drugs for me to take for my alleged problem. V-something Acid that I took one dose of, AND WAS SURE I WAS GOING OUT OF MY MIND! I refused to take more, and was told that I was a bad boy.
When i was young, I experimented with Pot, and even with LSD. Those drugs are like comparing a 12 oz. coke with a pint of tequila.
It took a nurse's initiative to have me sent to the med ward to see a real doc. He took blood, treated me for 28 days with some tough antibiotics, and they sent me home.
I WAS NEVER TREATED FOR A PSYCHIATRIC CONDITIONn but they tried.
I did get to spend a little time around those folks interned there. Before you condemn someone to a fate with idiots, know the idiots. The docs have a good thing going, and from those I met while inside, they were mostly just people hiding from the world! The docs were revealed to be the idiots.

You should probably be prosecuted for your misdeeds, too. I repeat, I do not condone what this child did, just question the attitiude of his accusers .

When i was a kid, birds and animals were always a target. Kids had BB guns, bottle rockets, and I even knew some guys that put firecrackers up a frogs butt, so they could see him explode.
Pretty gross, huh? But did they grow up to dismember and eat, kill and ravage? No. One of them is now a judge.
They were boys. Now they are giving these little guys GOOD drugs so they can CONTROL THEIR BEHAVIOR.

THEY DON'T LIKE THE WAY BOYS ACT! So, when they don't like the behavior, it must be bad. Put a name on the condition, and then give them some drugs. That is your answer.

We all exhibit some form of behavior which could be considered "anti-social". Some of us do a better job of hiding it! But the psychiatrists are just taking (somewhat) educated guesses in their treatment of their patients SUPPOSED maladies. They use a dart and target method, and if that doesn't work, then they just "plan b", "plan c", ad nauseum!
Our mainstream society is constantly resorting to drugs for their answers. Yet, they fight against the people's choices of self-medications in their WOD.
Recently, the Supreme Court gave the homosexual community a boost. They say it alright to have perverted sex. IT IS THEIR RIGHT NOW!
I feel it is a perversion, and do not want to be in the social circles these people are in. God gave us sex to procreate, not just satisfy our lusts. A measure of self-control is required. Not mine, theirs!
I am not a homo-phobe. I am against homosexual behavior, and those that practice it.
To me, their actions are much worse than anything this boy did!
The Supreme Court says it is alright to "terminate" a pregnancy. Abortion is OK, evn preferred by many, to having the burden of a child, unwanted!
I know enough folks ready to adopt, but there are too many selfish people who don't want to keep a child until the end of gestation. Many abortions are little more than cosmetic procedures, because some young lady got preggers, and it is going to "ruin her figure"! They want to play, but not to pay!

God is the only answer to the ills within our society. The Blood of Jesus is the ONLY CURE!

Take a breath... and re-read the thread... I mention that I believe this child needs forgiveness and salvation from God. My biggest concern is the amount of suffering that he is experiencing, not just mentally, but within his soul.

Another psych horror story:

My sister-in-law was on hormone replacement therapy for 30 years. Her idiot MD decided to stop them, for God knows what reason. He stopped them abruptly as opposed to weaning her.

She went into a total breakdown. They put her in psych. I cried and warned my brother and their daughter NO, this is not the place for her. They gave her shock treament and she has lost much of her memory. Psych hospitals first look at who your insurance carrier is and then decide you need to be committed.
