It was a spoof of Bill Clinton's press conference, little man. Switch to decaf.

Does Hillary say
Kobe is the victim of
a conspiracy?
To: Smogger
"Can't comment." Repeat ad infinitum.

I guess they held a press conference to announce that no decision had been made.
"Most moronic press conference ever since Baghdad Bob's!" was the description I read.

I guess they held a press conference to announce that no decision had been made. Yet Greta Van Susteren will find 45 mins. to talk about this. Then fill the hour with Laci and "Dog" the bounty hunter.

Thanks for reminding me why I do not watch this woman. In addition to the fact that there is something about her face that just creeps me out.

Would somebody please tell Dog Chapman that it's rude to wear sunglasses, in studio, on live TV. Sheesh.

Smogger,
I am a fan too, and all of this is very odd. DA did not have any involvement in the arrest warrant which is really unusual. Something stinks on this one.

From ESPN:
No charges have yet been filed against Kobe Bryant on sexual assault claims, said District Attorney Mark Hurlbert, speaking at a Monday afternoon news conference.
Hurlbert said the investigation still is ongoing and that no decision has been made on whether charges will be filed. He said he did not know when a decision would be made. The district attorney said he hoped to have a decision by the end of the week, but it could be longer. If charges are filed, Hurlbert said Bryant has to return to face the charges in court on Aug. 6.
The Sheriff should never have arrested Kobe if there wasn't enough evidence to file charges. That's some bs. The DA won't commnent on whether it was prudent to arrest Kobe. "What's done is done?"

There are a couple of things that stink to high heaven.
One, is he being setup?
Which of course is possible, but most likely he enter the hotel room for sex with someone he thought was a groupie and the groupie wants 15 minutes of fame. This make him a first-class idiot (forget about the setup, a life sentence can be passed with her having AIDS).
Two, if not, we may never know, because everything about this case is sealed! This pisses me off to no end! I hate the special treatment celebs get!

From "Hector the Pup" on a Lakers BBS I read:
Two thoughts come to mind after watching the press conference:
1) these guys want the publicity this case brings. What other reason would there be for holding a press conference when they knew they could not answer any of the questions that the press was going to ask? A statement released to the AP and/or Reuters would have gotten the exact same information out to every member of the press.
2) The DA looked really ticked off and it got worse every time someone asked about whether or not the situation was handled in the best way. Making the arrest before anything was reviewed by the DA put him in a tight spot.
I didn't watch the press conference, but from what I have heard (no new info) I concur with number 1.

Would somebody please tell Dog Chapman that it's rude to wear sunglasses, in studio, on live TV. Sheesh. Yeah, and I'm sick of the "I know the laws of Mexico" bit. His wife admits that they've retrieved absconders in the past with the help of local Mex police. This time they didn't - I guess they wanted video to sell of this big time take down - police present would have made it less dramatic. Turns out the big video was Dog and posse being hauled off in the pick-up truck.
