NEW YORK - MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.
The popular radio talk show host who did a weekend TV show for the cable channel referred to an unidentified caller to his show Saturday as a "sodomite" and said he should "get AIDS and die."

Wishing death on a caller by a horrible disease is the reason he got fired. If he merely expressed his moral outrage at homosexual behaviour he would still have a show. The only pig in that exchange was Savage. We'll never know unless someone steps forward to complete the caller's statement. He provoked the reponse.
Jerry Lewis had an encounter with a fan that he recreated in King Of Comedy. Jerry was walking down the street and someone was on a pay phone. The fan said something like, "Hey, Jerry Lewis! I'm a big fan of yours and could you do me a favor and say hi to my friend on the phone?"
When Mr. Lewis responded, "No." the person holding the phone said, "You should die of cancer!"

I think you have doomed yourself to needless misery, whether you are a homosexual or not.
But don't worry - you may be able to change :)

I hope there are a bunch of Liberal trolls who have come to this page today just to slam Savage. Nope. There are lots of conservatives who think Savage is, and has always been, a psycho.
Did you know that wishing death on someone on Free Republic will get you banned?

Either you're trying to start a fight, or you're a bit thick.

They just tolerate it. That is the problem. Too many just "tolerate it". Savage went too far, pissed of his employer and got fired. End of story. There's no first amendment issue here
I did not intend for my Free Speech comment to be interpreted as a first amendment issue. I ment it as in America, we should be able to say anything we want. These clowns are cheering the guy firing, and then turn around and scoff at him for wishing ill fate on another. Where is the sense in that??

C'mon! Is that true? I once did a verbal "Avada Kedavra" on a particularly annoying FReeper and I'm still here.

The ones who send the homos to hell get on a short list here because management does not want to appear "hatefilled". Jim Robinson is not hatefilled; it's not just an appearance.
The "homos-to-hell" crowd hate the sin and the sinner.

I think he found the medium a problem and got fired in a way that will not turn off his key demographic-the radio audience.BUMP
Savage is best on the radio. He is at times annoying, but the right needs to be annoying at times. There are a few public figures who have the balls to get down sometimes, if only to answer to people like carville, dowd, malveaux, scheers...the list goes on. Coulter is one of them, albeit not as caustic as Savage. We need to fight the war that has been brought to us.
Again, Savage is better on the dial, not the remote.

That was Morton Downey Junior. Robert Downey Jr. is the Hollywood actor with the cocaine problem. You are right, it was Morton Downey Jr.

Sean just said that he can't imagine, under any circumstance, where those comments can be defended by anyone. He wants to wait until he knows more about it to comment further, but as a friend to Savage, he would advise him to apologize publicly for the remarks. He just wants to be sure it wasn't taken out of context or misinterpreted.

I guess the leftists only believe in free speech when they are the ones practicing it.

I saw the show on Sat., first one ever. He looks like a Retard, I bought his book, it was written by a person with A.D.D. on 5 large Starbucks. Horrible.
But I put him on now and then and find him funny and angry. Just like Don Rickles. He is a mess but I like him anyway. Like Indian food, not every night but once and awhile. He is a living example of why there are "Radio People" and why there are "TV personalities".
When he was eating sausages an inch from his microphone on Sat. it was very funny. Big two inch thick links that were spitting grease everywhere when he bit them! And of course he just kept talking with a mouth full...
There are a million Savages in NYC. I meet them all the time.

He's become someone that when I hear him described as conservative I cringe. He underscores the stereotype that we're bigots. His manner of delivering his message undermines his credibility.I must reluctantly agree.
His clarion call of "LANGUAGE, BORDERS, & CULTURE" needs a spokesman.
To: sinkspur
I don't see him any different than he's been in years! He's said that (MSNBC) stuff on the radio before. It's not a meltdown. I don't see it as a meltdown, it's nothing he hasn't said before.
