Saboteurs 'punched by huntsman'
The incident happened on private land in West Sussex
A huntsman dismounted from his horse and punched a woman hunt saboteur in the face before attacking her husband, a court has heard.
The jury at Chichester Crown Court was shown footage taken by Simon Wild as his wife Jaine was allegedly being hit by hunt leader Jonathan Broise.
Mr Broise, 46, of London Road, Petworth, West Sussex, denies assault causing actual bodily harm to Mr and Mrs Wild on 9 October last year.
Richard Cherrill, prosecuting, told the court Mr and Mrs Wild had entered private land in Petworth Park to try to disrupt the meeting of the Chiddingfold, Leconfield and Cowdray Hunt.
She thinks she was head-butted by him and then punched a number of times around the face and head
Richard Cherill, prosecuting
They were spotted by Mr Broise in woodland.
"Mrs Wild had her back up against trees and this defendant rode his horse at her," said Mr Cherill.
"She will say that the defendant got off his horse and went towards her. He was very close.
"She said she thinks she was head-butted by him and then punched a number of times around the face and head.
"It caused her to fall to the ground."
Cheap perfume
Mr Cherill said Mr Wild had gone to his wife's aid but was punched in the face and stomach by the defendant.
Other members of the anti-hunt group eventually broke up the fight.
Mr Broise voluntarily went to a police station the next day to give his version of events.
He claimed he had dismounted his horse well before the incident and had merely pushed Mrs Wild on her chest.
He also alleged Mrs Wild sprayed him in the face with cheap perfume.
But the video shown to the jury illustrated a man, said by the Crown to be Mr Broise, dismounting his horse and punching Mrs Wild several times in the face.
The trial continues.

Hunt disrupters should be fair game. Should be able to punch them if you feel like it. Particularly since they were trespassing on private land to do their dirt.

Not exactly furthering his cause. It's morons like this who are cannon fodder for the weenies who want to take every gun out of the hands of every gun owner the world around.

Hunting is already in jeopardy of being banned in Britain. This event may accelerate the process.

I find this incident hilarious. This should happen more often, especially to "saboteurs" who go onto private property. I feel no pity for the people at all.

"Not exactly furthering his cause. It's morons like this who are cannon fodder for the weenies who want to take every gun out of the hands of every gun owner the world around." Uh, there were no guns involved in the incident.

If a group trespassed onto my property, they would find a punch in the face comforting. Their odds of survival would be pretty slim, depending on my willingness to go rescue them.

"Sprayed in the face with cheap perfume"! No wonder she was attacked. I would certainly attack someone who sprayed me. Remember when Dept. store employees sprayed customers with perfume when you entered the front door of the store? I attacked a few of those people myself. NO PERFUME, CHEAP OR OTHERWISE!

He also alleged Mrs Wild sprayed him in the face with cheap perfume.CHEAP perfume? Well, that does it. In addition to trespassing, she used cheap perfume on him.
(For those of us that haven't had the advantage of smelling really cheap perfume, let's say that the finer varieties can smell like toilet bowl cleaner and don't even have the nice blue color.)

That reminds me of a Christmas present I bought for my mother at Woolworth's (a five and dime, long since closed as a chain). I was 7, and rather than getting her a little bitty bottle of perfume, I knew that the really huge bottle of perfume was a much better gift at the price of $2. Ironically, she treasured the thing, and I think she still keeps it on her perfume tray....

Video camera? He was deliberately set up.Definately. My question is - "said to be mr...", does that mean the quality of the video is so bad that they cannot identify him?
I looked for the charges of trespass given to the idiots but didn't find them. What happened?

He didn't shoot her. Actually, since she was trespassing, he'd have had my full sympathy and support if he had, nevertheless, he didn't.

I looked for the charges of trespass given to the idiots but didn't find them. What happened? You won't find the charges. They weren't filed. Seems to me that they found someone with a temper and bear-baited him. Good thing they don't use Pit Bulls, or Rotweilers to hunt. Ol' Jaine would have a few more problems on her mind...if the dogs didn't go and eat her brain :)
