Are you sure? Maybe a majority does not think Frist's amendment is a good idea.

Personally, I don't think the government putting up road blocks on this issue will accomplish anything in the long run and will actually eventually lead to rulings by the goverment that will have the effect of strengthening the status of gay marriage.

You can not legislate morality. Trying to do it only leads to the opposisite of what you intended - or so I say. Certainly not every issue can be viewed this way, but this one can.

72 to 27 against. Much as I dislike the idea of gay marriage becoming "mainstream," (and the queers, overreacting as usual, won't be happy until they can push this in our faces) the Constitution is the basis for our laws, not our morals.

I would much rather the time and effort this will take be put into a term limits amendment.

Yup, you are right, we made drugs illegal and there is no drug use. We made alcohol illegal during prohibition and that stopped people from drinking.

God forbid that we stop making MORAL judgements. There would be no legal authority, and chaos and moral decay would prevail. But getting back to the basic premise of this thread:

Personally I don't care if they allow tax breaks for people who are legally committed. I do have a problem with it being called a "MARRAIGE". MARRAIGE is between a MAN AND A WOMAN. Not a woman and a woman or a man and a man.

As long as what happens is between CONSENTING adults...and in the privacy of their own homes, the only JUDGE of that behavior should be between them and God.

While I'm NOT their judge.. I do have a responsibility to speak out against the sin, but to NOT judge the sinner.

We are talking LAW vs morality, and judgement. We are talking about saying it is LEGAL and OK to be MARRIED if you are of the same sex. MARRIAGE and the act of BEING MARRIED is a HETEROSEXUAL ACT and has been since its beginning. As a heterosexual MARRIED Couple.. I say NO WAY.

Call it what you want, make up a name for it. But it isn't a MARRAIGE.

That's like saying a guy can get another guy pregnant.

We passed legislation AGAINST gay marraige in California. It would be nice if some day people respected the rights of the MAJORITY of the people. I would be extremely PLEASED to no end if there was something that put this to rest for once and for all.

It is getting "beyond" ridiculous.
