This poll needs freeping, looks the the democratic underground has been busy here.

Are you sure? Maybe a majority does not think Frist's amendment is a good idea.

Personally, I don't think the government putting up road blocks on this issue will accomplish anything in the long run and will actually eventually lead to rulings by the goverment that will have the effect of strengthening the status of gay marriage.

You can not legislate morality. Trying to do it only leads to the opposisite of what you intended - or so I say. Certainly not every issue can be viewed this way, but this one can.

Sure we can. It's done all the time. Every law that's on the books was put there because someone thought something was wrong and needed to be illegal.
