'Monkey trial' continues in Roseville
ROSEVILLE (AP) - Nearly a century has passed since the famous Scopes "monkey trial," but Charles Darwin's theory of evolution is still being tested - most recently before the Roseville Joint High School District.
At issue was how high school students should be taught evolution and if competing ideas about man's place in nature should also be included in a science textbook. But after a lengthy debate from dozens of residents and parents, board trustees approved a new science book that presented only Darwin's side of the story. School officials said there is no book on the mainstream market that presents what some call the "intelligent design" theory of evolution - a belief that life did not evolve randomly but instead progressed according to a plan or design. Officials said the book selected is readable and provides material that students will be tested on by the state.

How would you present the theory of Intelligent Design to high school biology students? What exactly should be put in the textbooks? We could start with a thorough examination of all of the tolerances that are being sustained to allow life to continue.
1. The earth's distance from the sun.
2. The amount of oxygen and other gases in our atmosphere.
3. The percentage of salt in the ocean.
4. The existence of life ending space junk like the comet Shoemaker Levy 9 showing up in our short lifetimes. (Think of the probability of that happening to earth in just a span of 100,000 years).
5. The sophistication of our evaporation/rain providing continuous fresh water to the planet.
6. The temperature ranges of earth as opposed to the other planets in our solar system.
8. The volcanic activity must stay below a certain amount to avoid mass extinction of life.
9. This distance and size of the moon in relation to the tides.
10. The balance of the atmosphere in relation to solar winds and radiation.
And on and on and on.......
Billions of years NOT!!! Don't believe the idea catastrophes are gradual either.

But it never ends, don't you see? The "debate" continues ad nauseum from thread to thread...nothing is resolved, minds are not changed. The degeneration is quite predictible...hostilities begin between creos and evos, with religious factions getting into the mix. Ultimately the threads get pulled, and any legitimate scientific debate and references vanish into cyberpurgatory. Sad, terribly sad and wasteful. We have many fine minds here on FR, from professors to theologians...and their efforts are negated by a few posters who cannot be civil :^(

When someone who CLAIMS TO BE a radio astronomer denies ever hearing about Steven Hawking's theory of the universe as you do in this post I can say for certain that you are lying about either being an astronomer or about not knowing about Hawkings. Either way you are a liar. You will have to retract the above abuse. I, Piltdown_Woman (who lives mere minutes from RA) have seen not only his personal radiotelescope and laboratory, his various awards for high achievement from NASA and other scientific organizations, but also the mission control room where he has sent commands to orbiting satellites (no jokes, PH...security is so tight that even the dust needs special clearance to land).
Take it back, or I will report you to the mods for this slander.

I would say RadioAstronomer is pulling gore3000's leg, by pretending to not know Steven Hawking's theory.
This can be frustrating behavior for all parties.

As a supposed astronomer, RadioAstronomer's credentials as a scientist are well known and beyond question. Your credentials on the other hand do not extend far beyond your ability to post off color text.

Evolution is an urban legend popular among the unscientific who don't know a theory from fact !
Real science is coming ... designeduniverse.com --- evolution is a fraud pepetuated by the ignorant !
Just reading the Bible the founding fathers plainly knew this beast would arrive and cover - tyrannize the nation but we would have to deal with it ... so we are -- will !

That is not a very well thought out statement. It is frought with many errors. Not the least of which is that it became false the instant your replied to me.

Personally, I don't mind you changing colors all the time but would you please stick to colors that are saturated in hue? The pastels are impossible to read.

You really need to learn to read, see my answer to Piltdown_Woman. I could care less what his credentials are, when someone lies about what they know to be true, they are being dishonest. Evolutionists do it all the time and it is way past time he got called on it. It is he who chose to throw away his reputation for the sake of defending the lie that is evolution. The issue is not what he is, but his dishonesty.
