[history]
THE STATE Lumber Firm Taking Tree-Sitters to Court In two years, Pacific Lumber has sued more than 110 protesters, who say the lawsuits are an attempt to quash anti-logging activism.
EUREKA, Calif. ? While most activists have abandoned their treetop protests, Pacific Lumber Co. has continued its fight against the anti-logging campaign by seeking heavy civil penalties against protesters.
In the last two years, the company has sued more than 110 people for trespassing and interference with its "lawful business operations," including an estimated 40 individuals from protests this spring in Freshwater, a community about six miles from here.

The environmental fascists: It'll be cool when these kooks lose their homes and have to compete with 5 million illegal aliens living in CA for affordable housing.
These people are the "no growth, not in my backyard, never oppose immigration, no lumber harvesting, no developement, no genetically modified crop crowd" and that's on other people's land.
They're doomed to homelessness by their own environmental regulations.

If the environmentalist want to save the damn trees so much, why don't they save up money and pay PALCO what the trees are worth (x)2 ..but that would require actual commitment and responsibility exactly what these damn hippy dogs don't/won't accept.

Letter to the Editor in
today's Sacramento Bee.Tree politics
Re "Forests: Fires and logging," Your views, June 19: The letter by Nancy Ingalsbee, of the "Klamath Alliance for Resources and Environment," states, "Responsible timber harvesting is necessary to maintain forest health." While no one honestly expects an industry representative to present an unbiased opinion, this statement is remarkably similar to the stated policies of the Bush administration. Gee, I wonder how the forests survived for so long before we started to "responsibly harvest" them?

Some people don't understand that trees are like tomatoes.... the new ones you plant to replace the old ones grow up just fine.

Does LATimes need to be excerpted???
Regardless, what a bunch of fools that think they should be allowed to break the law with no consequences....
To: Rodsomnia
how about some rico action? Silence these environmental wacko groups.

Gee, ever hear of "Forest Fires" ??? The yahoo who wrote the letter obviously didn't. . .
But then, his address is listed as "Davis", as in UC-Davis, where rational thought is against policy. . .

Pacific Lumber has been going about this all wrong. They should have hired a sharpshooter to pick off the bastrads one at a time, over consecutive days.
And there could not be a single thing the commies could have done about it because they were (are) trespassing on private property.

What an idiotic thing to say!
If you are really stupid enough to belive this then I'll bet we'll be reading or hearing about you in the news at some point in the future.
At least you past posts were a attempt at intelligence.

What an idiotic thing to say! Hardly. You should be able to do anything you please with your property as long as it is not illegal (e.g., growing marijuana). You have people taking up residence in trees and blocking the streets for the sole purpose of keeping the owner of said property from doing what he pleases, which in this case is cutting the trees down and harvesting them.
These people know full well what they are doing, and by this time, I can assure you they have all been told and warned. But there are 110 people in those trees, some you can bet in defiance of that court order from a few months back.
There needs to be an incentive to leave the property and never return.
The time for talk is over.

Whatever.
Im all for defending your home and land. If someone breaks into your home and attempts to rob or harm your family then blow his damn head off.
But what these people are doing is nowhere near that.
Sure, place them in jail for a looooong time and hit them significant monetary damages, but what you are condoning is murder. Plain and simple.
