Palestinians: 'Zionist' Christians illegitimate
World Net Daily ^ | 7/5/03

Posted on 07/05/2003 7:04:25 AM PDT by truthandlife

At a conference this week, Palestinian church leaders declared American Christians who support Israel's right to the Holy Land based on biblical grounds have no connection to true Christianity.

The three-day event in Bethlehem featured speeches by Archbishop Munib Yunan, Manuel Chassasian and Fr. Marun Laham who emphasized "Zionist Christianity is not connected to Christianity in any way," the Palestinian Authority daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported, according to Israel-based Palestinian Media Watch.

The leaders called for the Zionist Christians to be repudiated and discussed holding conferences in the United States to further the views of Palestinian churches.

In a lecture, conference President Jarris Khouri linked the return of Jesus from Egypt to Israel to the Palestinian aspiration for refugees to return to homes they had before the creation of the modern state of Israel.

Khouri said without such a return there will not be a just peace.

The speakers said the Christian Zionists are opposed to the U.S.-backed "road map to peace" and are against the Palestinian rights.

Fr. Marun Laham who emphasized "Zionist Christianity is not connected to Christianity in any way,"

So, now besides conservatives being labled "paleo-conservative," followers of Jesus are now "Zionist Christians." Divide the sheep when the sheep get too powerful...

Yes. Of course. To these adherents to "Replacement Theology," you are not a good Christian unless you are anti-Semitic.

These guys need a theological emetic (and a medical one, as well).

Jerusalem's Enemies to Be Destroyed
1

An Oracle

This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD , who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares: 2 "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. 3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. 4 On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness," declares the LORD . "I will keep a watchful eye over the house of Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. 5 Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts, 'The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the LORD Almighty is their God.'
6 "On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.
7 "The LORD will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem's inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah. 8 On that day the LORD will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the Angel of the LORD going before them. 9 On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.

Mourning for the One They Pierced
10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit [1] of grace and supplication. They will look on [2] me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. 11 On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be great, like the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 The land will mourn, each clan by itself, with their wives by themselves: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives, 13 the clan of the house of Levi and their wives, the clan of Shimei and their wives, 14 and all the rest of the clans and their wives.

Footnotes

  2. 12:10 Or to

At first I thought they were just another coven of cowardly Episcopalians. However, Munib Yunan is an Evangelical Lutheran and member in good standing of the World Council of Churches. The other two I suppose are also card carrying members of the WCC. If so, that explains everything.

This just makes it appear that "Palestinians," regardless of their occasional posturing for an end to violence, continue to hope for the destruction of Israel, and continue to not accept its legitimacy.

Which makes it unsurprising that they hve never negotiated in good faith, that Oslo failed, that the violence never ends.

The triumph of politics over faith. The left is always left before they are anything else.

The Palestinian "Christian leaders" know that they can either parrot Arafat's line, or be killed.

This is another palestinian lie, they had no homes in the area known as modern Israel before modern Israel.

The problem these particular church people have is that what they are calling "Zionist Christianity" is really American Protestantism.

These guys are just traditional bigots. Ignore them.

In my book, a Christian is somebody who sincerely believes in Christ. Therefore, Unitarians need not apply. But the word includes an awful lot of very different kinds of people. I use the term "traditional Christian" to refer to Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox (and other more esoteric communities) who believe in most of the ancient credal formulas: the Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Jesus as true God and true Man Who rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, the resurrection of the dead, and so forth.

In that regard, I fear that most of the movers and shakers in the World Council of Churches are Christians of an untraditional sort. I won't quite go so far as to say that most of them are not Christians at all, but considering the evidently rocky state of their beliefs, that's certainly possible.

Oh, don't bother these theologians with petty little details!

And I wonder what their relationship might be (if any) with the KKK. After all, hating the Jews is a popular sport again.

To these adherents to "Replacement Theology," you are not a good Christian unless you are anti-Semitic.

"Replacement Theology" is just what it is. Jesus, no matter how much they protest, is indeed a Zionist and King of the Jews (Jesus said these pagans named him as such themselves).

He will return to kill them. They think they can resist.
