May I assume the Governor doesn't have to be a natural born citizen?

Good article, except that the whole "Ah-nold" schtick falls into the "funny once" category, as Manuel Garcia O'Kelly might have put it.

Is this the Wall Street fun with Angelides you were referring to?

5:46PM California's Angelides calls for budget on S&P move by Luisa Beltran

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Standard & Poor's placed the state of California on creditwatch with negative implication, causing State Treasurer Phil Angelides on Wednesday to call for the state legislature to adopt a smart budget. If the S&P were to lower the state's credit rating down one notch to "A-," the move would result in about $400 million in borrowing costs. "The ongoing recall effort and the State's budget stalemate are damaging the State's financial standing and sending a dangerous message of political instability," Angelides said in a statement.

BOHICA, Mr. Angelides, you Davis flunky!!!

I've been wondering about something since I've become a certified Californian. (Well, I'm ALMOST moved!)I'm located where the only news I get is CNN...what a total waste of air...anyway, they said that Arnie is for "gun control"...no further comments. Anyone know his stand on this??

I've missed you all these past few months and when I get my ducks in order.......I'll be back!!!

So far, I've said little about Ah-nold's abilities to serve as Governor after he wins the election. If he had an Achilles heel, this would be it. He would fade as a candidate, if all he had to offer were his achievements as an actor. (Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins come to mind, for instance.) But Ah-nold has a graduate degree in business, and has proven himself as a very successful manager. Also, he has been very successful as a political leader, both in California and nationally – it has been volunteer work, not paid, and he was appointed, not elected, but the record is clear.

With all due respect.. Bunk!!!

The message is clear. After his socialistic after-hours school babysitting program jammed more tax liabilities on the rest of us taxpayers.

RINO is a 4-letter word. Never Forget!

"California voters are fed up with what is happening in Sacramento. They are just as angry with the legislature as they are with the Governor."

Include the media in that statement and all the talking heads and pundits out trying to score tickets to Arnold's Inaugural Coronation.

If Arnold is the answer, I think many here have lost sight of the question and issues at hand.

....If Arnold is the answer, I think many here have lost sight of the question and issues at hand.....

Let's think on this a minute. What exactly will be his job? He must enter his office and immediately direct the dismanteling of the California government. There will be thousands to be removed from the state payrolls. There will be political blood and guts and gore all over.

To quibble about purity of conservative values misses the point. When you are up to your ass in alligators, saving egrets doesn't have much priority. First you must dispose of the Gators. Slay them, ship them off to Nevada or put them to sleep, just remove the threats. If you fail to take care of the gator problemn nothing else in the swamp matters. The gators will eat you and everything else while filling the swamp with gator crap.

There is a strong possibility that the gator elimination operation will prove so politically costly that he will no longer be needed. Succed or fail, the job will be a killer.

This is step one of Wall Street's series of warnings to the State of California.

This is the first step, a shot fired across the SS Losertanic's Bow.

If the losers don't adopt a real budget, Wall Street will have to move in and prepare a real budget. That is what I'm waiting for. Then not only will Davis be in trouble, so will every tax and spend pervert in the legislature.

It will take more then a "star" to do the work that must be done. I do not believe he has either the fortitude nor the cranial capacity to do the job well or right.

Also, It won't get done overnight. IMO, I don't think he is the type that will be able to stick it out.

The Recall is the beginning of a long process of elections and nasty legislative sessions.. ie., a crusade to restore this Republic to it's once proud role as the leader in the nation in many ways.

Who are Arnold's backer today? I hardly consider them realists, more romantics or fantasy chasers..

They are the same folks that destroyed the coalition that Reagan had built and appealed to and today, have made the CA GOP a neutered and feeble entity by providing ineffectual and smarmy leadership.

I don't really think we want a lukewarm conservative in the guise of a RINO costume leading this crusade.

I really don't know the muscle-bound moderate movie mogul's position on gun control. Maybe someone else does.

Ain't Bea, I've missed you so much and especially since we've had a flare-up again at K. Falls again. Good luck with your move just in time for triple car taxes! (yuck!)

Nope. Senators are only required to be a "citizen for seven years." The native-born requirement applies only to President and Vice President.

From what I understand, Ah-nold would rank about third in the list of "most conservative Republican candidates." However, he would rank as conservative as "Tailgunner" Joe McCarthy (read Ann Coulter's book) compared to any of the Democrat candidates, beginning with Governor-for-now Davis and both of the state's Senators.

My article did not address that question, however. It dealt only with: 1) What are the facts on the ground? And, 2) what are the most likely consequences of those facts?

Go back and read the news archives about Richard Riordan in 2001/2002. They all predicted the same thing. When it becomes a race between a conservative Rep and a liberal puke, Ah-nold will loose and loose badly.

Remember, turnout in this special election will be very much like the turnout in a GOP primary. Despite what the know-it-alls tell you, Republicans will not vote for a gun-grabbing, baby killing, homo-loving liberal in a properly contested race. It ain't going to happen.

Billybob's okay. I'm holding him hostage until he agrees to run for Congress in 2004. He's a stubborn cuss, and may be in the basement for a while.

I said "October or November" because the state has, right now, an option of earlier or later. Either way, it will be a one-day election. Davis, "yes - no" will be on the same ballot with "Anthony A. Aardvark.... " and all the other candidates running to succeed him.

Yes, I agree with you that the Democrats will pull every stunt they can, including illegal stuff with the cooperation of dishonest judges as in New Jersey in 2000. I expect the recall supporters to be prepared, and to make preemptive strikes as well as standing ready to respond to such tactics.

We know what goes on in the basement.

. . . . however, in consideration of recent USSC rulings, it'll have to remain between you and Billybob. (If you know what I mean.)
