I have made some phone calls here in Missouri (my Rep. and my 2 Senators) and I encourage everyone here to do the same.

Look for the media to try and spin a propaganda "yawn". The homosexuals are desperatly trying to spin this into nobody cares, nothing to see, go home. This amendment would stop them in their tracks and they know it.

I urge everyone to call and to get letters and emails to the judiciary committees to get this moving. Email Rove and the Whitehouse too.

This is an election winner.

This is the Wash Post -- there will be an announcement at the time they choose. If you think Sen Frist did this without checking with President Bush, then I have a bridge for sale!

If this ever gets to the states, I predict it passes the 3/4 mark within 2 years.

The President has no role in the constitutional amendment process.

According to the talking heads at least, Rove wants Bush to do nothing publically to encourage this amendment, because it might offend soccer mom's. But they want people like Frist to carry the water to rally the base.

Triangulation. Carl Rove, meet Dick Morris.

Maybe he'll have VP Cheney push for this Amendment.

The President has no role in the constitutional amendment process.

Nevertheless, BushI made a big deal about a flag burning amendment. Also political posturing.

I never was too keen on the whole "Flag Burning Amendment" - it is an offensive act, but I never felt that an amendment was any solution.

On the other hand, I feel quite strong about this marriage amendment - and all the Talking Heads and political advisors that compare "Marriage Amendment" to the "Flag Burning Amendment" need to have their political-wind-meter checked.

I think the point of RJC's post was that President Bush II cannot avoid taking sides.

If he basically stays on the sidelines, suporters of the Amendment will view him as being unhelpful.

you may feel strongly but watch for the media heads to have a deafending silence. The homosexuals in the newsroom will try to kill with silence. (ironic no?)

It does Dubya little good to take sides at this point. He should be careful not to even appear to oppose this, however, as it could literally sink him in 2004. I'm not kidding.
