Cameras roll on final Star Wars
By MICHAEL OWEN-BROWN

THE republic is crumbling, the forces of evil are massing and a legion of science-fiction fans are quivering in anticipation.
The last chapter of Star Wars starts filming today at Sydney's Fox Studios.
Almost 1000 crew will work on the $173 million production, which stars about about 60 Australian actors. Fans can watch parts of the filming on webcam.
The film, due for release in 2005, will focus on young Jedi warrior Anakin Skywalker being seduced by the dark side of the Force on his way to becoming Darth Vader.
Also, Senator Palpatine orders the destruction of the Jedi order on his way to becoming emperor.
Lucas said the film was darker than the others.
"Let's face it, all the bad guys win in the end, all the good guys are dead except for a couple, so it doesn't have a happy ending," he said.
The film stars Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen. Australians Joel Edgerton, Jay Laga'aia, Genevieve O'Reilly, Bruce Spence, Kristy Wright and Warren Owens also feature.

I had no idea there was a site dedicated to the "posession" theory, but I can't wait to look at it now.

Thank you, thank you. And for my next trick, I'll learn to spell "anticipation."

I had no idea there was a site dedicated to the "posession" theory, but I can't wait to look at it now. Fits with the there is always one Lord and one Apprentice. The only way to become a Sith is to defeat one.
Obi-Wan did not fall into the Sith when he defeated Darth maul beacuse of 2 reasons - 1. He was not tempted by the Dark Side and 2. Maul (Like Sidious) fell into the hole and the Sith Spirit was not able to enter Obi-Wan.
Does not explain how Dooku became Tyranus, but I can see Anakin defeating Tyranus and taking his place at Sidious' side.

Yeah, would have been much cooler to throw it in near the end of Ep2 (like right after the fight in the cave) like so:
Amidala - gee I'm sorry all those Jedis were killed how's your arm?
Anakin - it's healing, in times of death and suffering one thinks more about the joys of life...
Am - yes joy is so important to offset tragedy... my jumpsuit is ruined
An - it looks nice
Am - (husky breathing) help me throw it away
lean in for the kiss, fade to black, no more boring love story.
And If I do say so myself my dialog isn't nearly as stilted as Lucas'.

I assumed that Palpatine didn't realize he was possessed (which would explain why the Jedi are so confused as to why they can't detect the presence of the Sith; doesn't explain why they couldn't detect Darth Maul, though), but after the Republic crumbled, the Sith spirit just took control full time.

If he does do the final three I hope he follows Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire Trilogy -- to me the three best Star Wars books other than "Truce at Bakura" (Which incidently fillw the gap between Episode 6 and "Heir to the Empire"
The Zahn trilogy is a great read, and more true to the spirit of the characters and events happening after RotJ than most Star Wars books. But, "Truce at Bakura"? You sure about that? I have one word for you before you answer: "enteching".
You ever read "Tales from the Mos Eisely Cantina?" It's hilariously awful. Just about *every* character from the cantina scene has a background that involves combatting the Empire.

LOL! Actually when Darth Vadar first showewd the ability to snatch things of walls etc. my devious teenage mind (At the time, now I much more refined LOL) quickly thought of how handy that ability would come in with Dresses, Bras, etc etc etc

The joke on the set of the first movie was that he only gave actors two instructions: faster, louder. What kind of movie was he making?!?!
(I know it was THX 1138 ;-)

I enjoyed "Shadows of the Empire." It wasn't written that well, but the story was solid.

Have not read "Tales", sounds like something that might be good for a rainy blah afternoon though.
Understand your concerns about "Truce", I was more pointing to using some of the events from that book to fill in the time Gap between VI and "Heir". I went back and reread what I posted, bad choice of words.

I'll take the new movies for Natalie Portman and Yoda in a light saber fight.
It's like the scene in Fort Apache with Colonel Thursday asks his Irish Sergeant if the fire water at the Indian agents' place is whiskey. "Well, sir, it's better than no whiskey a'tall!"

"I think Jar Jar gets killed in Episode 3. This event will no doubt result in the loudest cheer ever heard at a Star Wars film."Only if it's an excruciatingly painful death.
To: LanPB01
I've liked R. A. Salvatore's work on the New Jedi Order books, have not read "Shadows"

If Lucas is smart, he have a scene where Anakin does the 'force choke-hold' on Jar Jar. That will guarantee ticket sells all by itself. If Lucas was really smart, he'd not only have Anakin doing the 'force choke-hold' on Jar-Jar - letting the audience think Jar Jar is finally going to get it. But then to have Anakin kill Jar Jar with such brutality that even the most die-hard Jar Jar haters will stop cheering and go silent, actually feeling sorry for Jar Jar. Thus proving that Anakin has completely gone to the dark side and is truly, truly evil.

Anakin does not have a physical father. I suspect that Anakin will turn out to be a clone of Palpatine, implanted in the womb of whats-her-name on Tattooine. (It won't make complete sense but Lucas's plot twists never do.) Bump me in 2005 when we find out who's right.. ;-)

The Man Show elected Baio to their Hall of Fame due to his mysterious ability to nail hot chicks. That movie gave me the insight into the true potential of force-like powers.
