"O NO!!!!!!!I was SO looking forward to it!!!!!!! NOOO!!!!!!!"

This is EXACTLY how I feel. I just saw a promo for this the other day. I LOVE charlie chan, all the different ones! This was my second detective fave (sorry, third) after Sherlock Holmes and Perry Mason. And Charlie Chan was my own discovery on Sat. AM re-runs, don't tell me the politically correct nincompoops have gotten them to cancel this! Not good, I will write. Number Two son suffered lack of self-esteem too, you know!

In the hope that this action will evoke discussion about the progress made in our modern, multicultural society,

progress? So mass censorship is progress. How PC.

the Charlie Chan films may contain situations or depictions that are sensitive to some viewers.

So a small minority can control things now....oh right...just like the Dems in the Senate.

We seem to win a few battles here and there, but we are losing the PC war.

I don't understand Fox. I usually watch Fox News, but from its inception, the Fox tv network has had nothing but garbage. Almost everything on the alphabet channels is better. The only good thing that Fox ever did was cancelling "Married with Children". They still have "The Simpsons", though.

"Gone With the Wind will be next!!! Lots of racial stereotyping in that one.

As an Irish person I hope they stop showing all those old movies with the funny Irish drunk and the "thick Mick" cop with the heavy brogue.

We are living in a country that is in the middle of a very serious nervous breakdown.Where will it all end?

I saw the preview of Dumb and Dumberer. It was idiotic. It appeals to a very small segment of the population. (those who are always high on pot)

It's not quite the same as a Freebie, but you can buy the old Charlie Chan movies at Half.com. I'm not sure why those other movies show up at the top of the search list, but just scroll down a bit at this URL:

No, they were going to have a remake of the Beverly Hillbillies, but people in Georgia put a stop to it saying it stereotyped rural folk.

You are mistaken. It was not a "remake" of "Beverly Hillbillies" that was in the works (remember the motion picture version a few years ago?) but rather one of those "reality shows" in which genuine poor rural people were going to be placed in a mansion and gawked at by the general population as they dealt with unfamiliar circumstances. That nasty little project deserved to die.

What I wrote to the sniveling bastards:

I am MOST DISTRESSED to hear that you have cancelled your broadcasts of the Charlie Chan movies.
I was VERY MUCH looking forward to watching them.
We, in the non-imbecile corner seek to rely on Fox broadcasting to provide the audience with what we want,
and not what the Liberal Elite say we may have.

I hope that you will SERIOUSLY reconsider this misguided decision, or I will have to SERIOUSLY reconsider my
brand loyalty to all things FOX.

Including, but not limited to, Fox 5, Fox News, and the NY Post.

Sincerely,
Jessica O'Cxxxxx

I forgot about it being a reality show, but they would be paid for their troubles. At least it's better than eating live rats on tv.

The Amos & Andy episode, "The Rare Coin", may be the funniest half hour ever shown on TV.

The show was rerun forever here in Atlanta and was number one in both black and white households.

May Madam Queen never darken your doorstep.

"The Rare Coin." I'll have to see if I can rent that one.

The one that I remember that was so funny was the one about the mail order bride.

Werner Oland was one Charlie Chan (from 1931 to 1937), but then there was also Sidney Toler (1938 to 1947). No, he wasn't Chinese either! Both of them seem to have worked up to the end, making their last Chan movie in the years of their death, if the info on this web site is right.

This was probably the same people who griped about Al Jolsen movies. They were "pulled" as a result of some PC-ers complaints and will probably never be broadcast in the US again.

I was watching some of my collected "Our Gang"/"Little Rascals" shows, and wondered if they are still being shown on TV. My 4 year old grandson loves them, but somebody might take offense at how Buckwheat and Stymie (some of his favorite characters of the series) are depicted.

All this reminded me to go over and sign the petition for the re-release of "Song of the South", which Disney has not shown since 1986, I believe. One has to buy it in the U.K and have it converted from PAL format or find a used copy.

We love Charlie Chan...we wait for his movies to come on and I can't believe that FOX took this stand.

" I put myself in the place of an asian three year old."

Go right ahead but, BUT, are Siamese cats from the orient? Are facts now to be dismissed because they are facts?
